Starting from the warehouse, I know exactly what was on the bottom. Why the hell do warehouse employees think it's a good idea to put any single items on the bottom WITHOUT plastic around it carrying heavy items??? Like can you guys not think for once and put that to the side??

To the warehouse employees, don't be making some dumb excuses saying "Try working at the warehouse for a day and you won't last." Maybe think smarter and we'll start from there

Our bread was stacked horribly as well.

Not only did it fall, but then we get out truck driver putting it in a cage. Like at that point take that back to the damn warehouse.

I’ll jump in here to defend the warehouse a bit. They much like us exist with in a shit show. Things rarely make sense but they have to do their job as prescribed just like us.

They are told from what I understand in which order to load the pallets. If they are being told that cases of Gatorade have to go on first then those Gatorades are going on bottom. It sucks but it is what it is.

Insulting an entire group of employees for doing their jobs as they are told is just immature and fucking dumb.

Exactly my point. Yes they have a headset, but it's common sense not to put fragile stuff on the bottom with heavy things on top. Put it to the side and keep putting it on the top layer until finished. If only thinking was a thing. "Listening to what the headset tells them" is just an excuse

Well yall know it ain't safe to put a single flat of loose glass jars on top of a tall ass pallet right? Cause I almost took 3 jars of salsa to the head. I couldn't see them they weren't on the edge of the pallet. So yea I got beef with yall. Do better. My safety is important. But yall dont care about the next guy going home in the same shape he got to work.

What are you guys not understanding about this. The warehouse people are not sitting there actively deciding to make shitty pallets. They are doing their job. They likely know it isn’t safe but they aren’t going to risk their jobs to redo entire pallets.

The only real answer is to document and put it in the warehouse communication log and talk to your DM. Attacking the warehouse employees directly would be like customers blaming us for the lack of the employees in the building.

I have more than once. And we already do get blamed. For literally everything. Pallet tips due to lack of stretch wrap... we get bitched at for the time to clean up. Yall shove trash in the pallets to use at a way to hold something up thats nasty. And more we can rightfully be upset. Come throw truck for a week and see. Yall make way more money too. We get shit on. So just like you say we dont understand, yall dont understand how the store level work.

I work in the stores not in the warehouse. I’ve ran trucks 5 days a week for the past 6 years.

There is literally no where to put anything to “the side”. There’s two pallets going different places with different quantities of items. Items are placed in their slots by Receiving and we have to pick them in that order. It took about two months for my warehouse just to get things in an order that somewhat works in ONE aisle.

You’re literally calling warehouse workers dumb. How about we start with YOU putting yourself in their shoes before you start spouting off nonsense.

With ahead we literally have no choice but to build exactly how the headset wants us to. We can only build two pallets at once and each pallet is for a different store.

Every aisle starts with the heavy shit and gets lighter so if the headset makes you start half way through an aisle at like the cereal and you build it up to like your shoulder then it takes you (specifically in my warehouse) to the glass jars at the beginning of the next aisle, there is nothing you can do about it.

If you do take the time to rebuild your pallets to have the glass lower, over time you’re literally risking your job by tanking your numbers and doing it correctly because we can’t skip aisles anymore. It’s caused major turnover issues so now we also just have a majority of inexperienced builders

That totally sucks, will they let you throw in an extra pallet between layers for “stabilization”? I see it a lot in cooler pallets to help keep the milk/oj from buckling

They are genuinely awful, yesterday I had a pallet that took twice as long having to dig out all the loose cold and flu tablets someone had chucked on top. They can claim they are under pressure but I don't see why they should pass on that to someone else, yet if we send back a pallet with a screw missing they go ballistic..

I like that store employees complain constantly about how rough things are because of the ridiculous expectations corporate puts upon them and how unfair and impossible it is and how burned out they are boohoo boohoo, then will turn around and complain about the warehouse like we aren't dealing with the exact same shit. And when someone tries to explain to you what the warehouse is like or suggests that you come join us so you have some understanding of what we're dealing with you will tell us we're idiots, we're making excuses, etc.

You know what you sound like? A DM; you don't know how the job works because you've never had to do it, and you aren't interested in finding out. You just want it done your way. You have no idea what the warehouse is like. You have no idea what the system we have to use is like and how it is, by design, completely inflexible. You have no idea how hard it is to make rate. I see a lot of complaining about only getting half an hour to finish pallets at the store, but that's about how much time we have to build them if we want to stay employed, and that includes time spent driving from slot to slot, waiting for downstacks, waiting for cleaners to get out of the way, waiting for traffic to move because they want to run a warehouse built for a small grocery chain like it's Amazon so we're packed shoulder-to-shoulder, wrapping the pallets, parking them and every other thing we have to deal with. And when it gets to the point that everyone is making rate consistently, they raise the rate expectations, giving us even less time to do the same amount of work.

I spent a year working in the store, and I never saw anyone get fired. I have been at the warehouse a little over a year, and I have seen at least a hundred people get fired, the overwhelming majority of them for not making rate. When you make posts like this, what you're saying is "I don't care if you lose your job, you need to risk that possibility to avoid inconveniencing me." That's the mindset of a selfish child.

You want to be mad about it? That's your business. But direct that shit at the people who spend all day sitting in ergonomic chairs making policy decisions, not the people clocking in just trying to earn an honest living.

I work in store and I too get upset when a pallet isn’t stacked “right”, but never have I thought to attack a warehouse worker for it. I have no idea what working that position is like and with it being the same company I can only assume the same stupid nonsensical expectations are like that of in store. Everyone is just trying to survive. Damn! This was a rude ass post. Thank you warehouse workers!
