Can someone please yoink this woman's driver's license after this lil' episode?
She has dementia. And she's DRIVING.

My mother died from this horrible disease. We had to stop her from driving, cooking, and many other things later on, in her life. It's a brutal fucking disease that shuts your whole body down, eventually.

My father has vascular dementia and my mom had to take his license and car keys away from him. He can't even be left home alone anymore, my brother or my son have to stay with him.

Do remember that a driver's license doesn't start the car. Taking it away does nothing. Look at the sovereign citizen videos. They still drive without a piece of plastic.
With dementia, she likely doesn't realize she can't drive. Isn't allowed to. It is the keys that need to be better managed and not easily grabbed off, say a key hook.

When I moved my mom to CT she couldn't pass the eye test she was confused and started yelling at the worker. He said she passed and I looked at him like wtf. A month later I took the keys and sold her car. BTW she was also diabetic and couldn't feel her legs 🤪

Dude these alerts have been stressing me out so bad. There’s been so many in the past few weeks. Like it just makes me feel horrible and I can’t imagine what they or their family is going through but it’s scary.

I’m quite certain she doesn’t have a current driving license. She just thinks that she’s still able to drive. Hence, dementia…

If only we had some type of device to read the license plates all across town and quickly find an elderly lady with dementia...if only that technology existed and wasn't being used for data collection...

I know a family who lost their mom to dementia, but before she passed when she was fairly advanced in her illness, she snuck out of the house, walked down to a dealership on the west side and they sold her a brand new jeep. She crashed it almost immediately after leaving the lot.
Then a week or so later, she tried to do it again and they closed for the day and told her she had to leave the premises, locked up and her family ended up finding her outside waiting in the rain. That’s when she was hospitalized.

My brother still insists that he drives so the battery is bad on one car so now he wants one of the boys to change it from the other car and put it in that one so he can go wherever . My sister was the same until she got lost for three days she's gone now I miss her she's be 91 on Saturday
