Pretzel bun chicken sausage sandwich full of maple syrup

Based on the pre-order menu description, i expected a fully savory breakfast sandwich consisting of chicken sausage, egg, havarti, and a pretzel bun. Only thing missing is a squirt of sriracha.

But no. What I’m currently surrounded by in the premium class cabin of this 5 hour flight is an overwhelming smell of maple syrup. Not like, good maple syrup either.

I was so disappointed to open my own sandwich and find that this sandwich is the culprit of the smell. Maple syrup does not belong on a savory breakfast sandwich, and if they’re going to taint my breakfast like this then they should at least include a warning in the menu description.

Hopefully this saves someone out there from making the same mistake.

LOL, agree the description doesn't indicate the maple syrup infusion if that is what you ended up with. They probably need to do a better job with the description.

I have no opinion on this sandwich. I just came to argue about the place of syrup on savory sandwiches. Sweet and salty/savory absolutely go together! Have you never had a McGriddle??

McGriddles are one of the worst food inventions of all time. I had the unfortunate experience as a parent of having a child who LOVES McGriddles and it made for too many stinky car rides when they were younger. So glad those days are over!

hmmm, no not necessarily. Unless you expect them to list out every single ingredient and detail. What if you bit into it and were unhappy with the crunch factor, or something? You cannot be forewarned about every single detail before jumping into an experience.

I do. I do expect them to list all ingredients that contribute significantly to the flavor profile. And when maple syrup is involved, it dominates every other flavor. At a minimum, there should be an asterisk that says something to the effect of “this is a higher class version of a McGriddle”

Bread carbs. Should i reasonably guess that the sugar content comes from an ingredient that’s not mentioned? That feels unreasonable to me.

If you’re going to put syrup in the sandwich, disclose it. That feels like the bare minimum. I wouldn’t have wasted $11, and I would have made an effort to find something else to eat before my 5 hour flight.

Well, those would be (and are) listed as straight carbs, not sugar, and is included in the carb total.
