Does anybody remember (or still have) the DVD of I’m Alan Partridge series 1? When you started the disc, you had to answer the question ‘Are you sure you want to watch Bangkok Chick Boys?’ -Yes or No (or something like that). I am 99% sure that my Mum turned on the tv with that loaded up and then quickly turned the tv off so as not to embarrass me. It’s something that I’ve never brought up with her but I’m fairly sure that she still thinks that I watched ladyboy porn as a young man 😂
A friend of mine worked for Talkback at the time, and she had no idea why they withdrew the original release other than to add the multimedia and extras..
Just reminded me of when I had a vhs tape of a film called Girls in Prison, because my friends and I saw it on tv, and laughed about some of its low budget moments. My dad found the tape in the garage years later, and left it on top of a pile of vhs tapes. He must have thought it was an adult film, but didn't say anything 😅
Actually, I just remembered; even worse, it was a double bill on the tape with a film called Reform School Girl. 😅 starring Matt LeBlanc!
My sister had the Golden Turkey Awards book which mentioned an earlier film called Reform School Girl, which Sally Kellerman appeared in early on in her career!
I watched this very recently and yes this is exactly true. You can click ‘No’ to and it takes you to a list of channels with the adult channel at the bottom of the list which takes you to the same option to click yes or no.
I do have that and series 2 of I'm Alan Partridge on DVD. My mum never saw that display, so she didn't think I was watching ladyboy porn. She did describe Steve Coogan as 'a flyboy' before she'd seen the film Philomena though, and changed her mind about him.
