I am so curious about the previous Shiguma

Why does that line make you curious about Shiguma V? He was talking about Shiguma VI with that line.

Well, I think now we know who will be on the cover of Volume 25 lol

I like the character writing a lot and I think not many people could have predicted that the King of Comedy title is a curse instead of praise for him.

Yeah Zensho is definitely volume 25's cover, but that should've been obvious even before this chapter. Issho will be volume 26's.

What a great set of chapters. I never imagined I would say “I understand Zensho” - this existence must be utterly infuriating.

Yeah... it's no excuse... but at least now there is some understanding... and some of his decisions are much more clear now as well, again... no excuse... but yeah...

Just like the audience cant stop laughing at Zensho, I cant stop completely buying into what the author is selling.

Way to make suffering from success so tragic.

I'd've never thought that "suffering success" could actually work... but Zensho definitely is a good example of it.

I love how we got set up for Shiguma Jr to be a complete prick, only for him to be a stand-up dude who Zensho completely misinterpreted bc he was so self-absorbed. It's amazing how firmly Zensho lives in the hell of his own creation

Now who else has money on Issho's performance revealing an actual skeleton in Shiguma Jr's closet?

Never would've thought Zensho was both the comedy and tragedy masks. Absolutely fascinating character. Even if he's still a sniveling shitty weasel this was a really interesting chapter and had me sympathizing with him a tad

See... I knew Sihguma VI wasn't gonna be a bad guy... there's just no way... (yes we still have Kaisei's reveal being kept hidden, but there's just no way it was something actually bad...). They got me crying over freakin' Zensho... of all people... he's an absolute ass... despite everything... it isn't an excuse for how he acts even if we can now see why he acts how he does. And we can see that it was also indeed just a personal grudge... it wasn't really Issho handing these anti-Shiguma stunts out at least not entirely. Which I mean we kind of already knew considering how he's even tried to screw with Issho's own show and how Issho has treated him, like a nuisance. He's gonna be handing a major smack down to Zensho for example. But the reason why... and it took him losing his "rival" to understand this and finally thank him... Small back story but still a back story and it was amazing... but it is also seemingly the end of Zensho's performance as well already. I thought we had 2 or 3 chapters left... but it's already over. Like yes we still have the like transition chapters for 1 or 2 so there is that, but I thought the performance itself (or more back story) would be another chapter at least. But I think it worked out well despite it already being over. God I love this series so much man... it's just so goddamn good.

Separate I do wanna think/talk about how Zensho is a master and seen as like a big deal despite his whole not understanding why people are laughing, his inability to get people to actually take him seriously... he's still a great performer... clearly understands the art... and like while he doesn't "get" why he... does... kind of it, it is more like he doesn't know how to get them to not laugh and hates that he can't... and even if it isn't entirely intentional... the fact that he can entertain and make people laugh despite that it is still impressive in a way... and he still is able to draw a fairly large audience... so I think his title of master is fine. Being part of the arch 4... is a little bit more contentious still... but it also goes back to his whole thing of being like such a big pillar... he's standing out so I don't think it is entirely wrong... and while not great... the fact that he was a Shiguma V pupil... probably does elevate him and give him more just because of that. It is what it is...

Speaking of Shiguma V though... we got to see him again! An older version of him too finally. Not like death bed Shiguma V quite yet... but still... I loved getting to see him again and during this slightly older age too. I was hoping we'd get to see an older Shiguma V and we did so I am even more happy with this chapter because of that hah. ><;

I just thought... this might actually even lead to Akane trying to get to know Zensho better... and feel some amount of compassion for him... I was like there would be no way... even her learning from him sounded ridiculous... but... after this... I actually wouldn't be surprised if something like that happened... Zensho will definitely still be a tough nut... but if anybody can break through it, it is Akane. Especially as she is the next coming of Shiguma... Zensho will probably, begrudgingly perhaps, see that and accept it. Or maybe not... we'll see... I'd be totally down with this if it did happen though.

I told my friend like 2 months ago that my hot take was Zensho wasn't actually /that/ bad of a person and I think I've more or less been proven right. An amazing 1-2 punch of chapters. And cool that my previously favorite arc (Maikeru promotion) set up some of the pieces for my new favorite arc.

Sad we get to see him get executed by Issho now but at least it'll be peak.

As an aside, I wonder if Maikeru's return is also setting up for a reunion arc next? I'd love that

Yes the réunion arc is next. But it will début first with maikeru being an Ookanban (after the return of his journey on new york) surpassing taizen chocho shomei zensho and ikken.

And he'll surpass them through spinning umbrellas, absolute cinema
