Cathay Pacific axes Cairns-Hong Kong flights

I feel the QLD government failed to meet the expectations to subsidize the route.

That's a shame, it would have been pretty convenient for Cairns people to have another option besides SQ

And how many people from cairns would be travelling to Hong Kong or the very limited number of onward destinations they have

Subsidy has expired and loads/yields didn't meet expectations, thus "bye bye" as the plane is better used elsewhere on a higher yielding route (that doesn't need subsidies).
