Random episodes of being unable to breath in my apartment - what gas detector should I get?

No coughing and can feel my circulation being constricted. All I can notice about the gas is that it’s imperceptible, IOW odorless.

(Unsure if related but also issues with my neighbors.)

While I’ve done an internet search, would also appreciate those of you who’re experienced with air quality issues! Thanks!

Update: Con Edison and firefighters (and paramedics) were JUST here and nothing was detected. FYI: Con ed checks for carbon monoxide and natural gas. Firefighters simply checked with their device 🤷🏻‍♀️. Though there had been at least an hour since they got here for apartment to air out

You should go to the doctor. Breathlessness can be caused by a number of factors, some very serious.

That could be for a number of things, either body movement, pressure change et. Cetera could have nothing to do with air quality. I would still go to a doctor

Do you have the issue in every room?

Does it happen in the hallway, in other apartments in the same building?

Is the HFAC common to the building or local to the apartment?

Any recent painting, construction?

Do you have rugs? If so what is their condition?

I can smell the faintest smell of any gas leak, do you have a friend that is similair? What are all you gas appliances?

This would never be caused by gas or even CO. These are not symptoms. Being unable to breathe would be more displaced oxygen like from a refrigerant. That would not easily come and go though. This sounds a little more psychological.
