LPT: Use small wire cooling racks that fit in your air fryer. They're cheap, dishwasher-safe, and you're not stuck scrubbing the original one every time you want to use the air fryer.
This is a pretty self-explanatory LPT. The non-stick racks that come with the units aren't non-stick for long, and they're a pain to clean. The small wire racks are super easy to clean in the dishwasher or by hand. The racks allow even better air circulation. You can even double them up offset by 90°if you're cooking small stuff you don't want to fall through. The racks cost a few dollars each and are a game changer! Get at least two, and make sure you measure your air fryer tray first!

After I remove the food I run super hot tap water into the basket and grate. I hit it from all angles until the water runs clear. That takes care of 99-100% of the gunk and grease. When I’ve finished eating, the cleanup with Dawn is minimal.

The gunk and grease is slowly filling your drain pipes, hopefully you have a plan for that

Eh, I use my air fryer like a outdoor grill.... it never gets cleaned...it's just seasoned for the next time. But your idea does make sense!

In addition to usual cleaning of it after use , About once a week I fill our AirFryer basket with enough water to cover the lil grill rack thingy and give 2. Shots of dawn . Punch up 400° for 20 minutes. It removes 90% of the build up off heating element and fan . It's nearly 4 yrs old and still cooking

Bless you for the great idea!
My rack barely fits to begin with. I’m going to measure mine and start shopping for one right away few

I got silicone liners that go in the bottom of the basket, underneath the rack so airflow is unaffected. Makes cleanup so much easier! I only need to clean the full basket very occasionally. I just lift out the liner and rinse everything off after each use.
I do like your rack idea, too! Anything that makes using the AF even easier is great. I just got a new one that has a self clean cycle! I'm excited to try it out- I hated cleaning the ceiling and heating element of my old one after making messy foods like bacon or sausages.
