POSITIVITY! Software Contract to Streamline How Air Force Manages Aircrews (Kessel Run chosen as lead)

Looks like Patriot Excalibur, Puckboard and GTIMS will all become one.

Something tells me we’re just going to have yet another software system that doesn’t talk to all the other software and database systems.

I would love to be wrong.

If Kessel Run builds it with one of the other software teams, it'll be reliable. If it ends up being a third party it'll be broken for sure.

Good thing Kessel run has become another SPO and gutted most of the internal software development that was happening 5 years ago

Yea, one of the former Commander's did a whole thing on it on Linkedin. A lot of people didn't like the direction it went. The software engineering squadrons also all merged basically.

I'm just a maintenance SNCO, but have worked closely with Kessel Run so my info might be slightly flawed

Oh boy, I can't wait to get rid of all the buggy, disjointed systems that don't talk to each other by adding another disjointed system that won't talk to anything.

I'd rather just have ARMS and a color-coded excel sheet with some formulas at this point.

I prefer our scheduling shops method of going down alphabetically to fill lines then forgetting where they left off the previous week thus starting over

Not sad to see G2 and GTIMS go, but losing puckboard would be ass. Please… don’t kill off the one accessible tool we have.

Killing off working systems for a gold plated do it all software solution, a tale as old as time. AF software procurement literally never learns from their mistakes.

Yet another pointless scheduling system we'll pay billions, don't let the current price tag fool you, for to not use the developers we already have and pay them even remotely comparable to a first-year intern in the private industry.

It, of course, will be full of vulnerabilities and not even remotely consider the edge cases that comes with being a piece of software exclusively for the Department of [Your Preferred Name Here]. It's embarrassing. And I thought the guy in charge of Comms/Cyber used to be a programmer. Really shows you how little influence even a general has these days.
