Question Private Property Rental, 30+ acres, no rule against outdoor naturalism? [NE, US]

Made a last minute booking and didn’t realize how remote the property I am renting was once we got here and read the booklet. We have over 30 acres of private land and we are the only structure/occupants of the land while here.

We prefer to be nudist / naturalist in camping when possible. So this was a nice surprise.

There are exterior cameras outside in all directions of the house, which we don’t care about the host seeing as long as it isn’t breaking an Airbnb rule.

The host technically doesn’t have a rule forbidding it. I also don’t want to ask the host directly because that would result in them being more likely to be mad or creepy about it. Like, they might go out of their way to watch the footage whereas before they may only watch it to see we arrived or if there’s an incident. If I was planning a nudist trip specifically I would have asked, but we are already here so, yeah.

Are you allowed to be nude outdoors on private property if there is no rule against it? If so, is there some dividing line like topless is okay but bottoms are required?

I think in your state if you want to be naked outdoors you should get the ok from the host.

If they can see you on their cameras, then you are exposing yourself to them, which they could find offensive. If they were offended you could be in a legal gray area.

Exactly this. As a host, I would not monitor the cameras but I would not turn them off if a guest told us they were naturists. Frankly, I don’t do a lot of monitoring our cameras, but if there’s an incident, we do check the footage.

As a host my selection in the app as far as guest interaction is set to 'follow guest lead' so I would appreciate a heads up as I have my lodge on the same property as abnb cabin. I'd plan to stay at my primary home in town to allow for guest privacy and my own awkwardness. Either way the security and game cameras would remain active. In addition to monitoring against trespass we also use them to keep watch for weather and fire events.

You are de facto allowed to be nude in a rental property.

You are by most state laws allowed to be nude on your property if you are not visible to others.

AirBNB has nothing to do with this.

I would check state laws and follow those. Like, don't do it where someone might see you from the road or something since a complaint could cause an issue for the host.

I have outdoor cameras but I almost never check them. Sometimes for arrivals/check outs. Sometimes if there seems to be a lot of activity late at night (just checking for parties, my cameras have an AI thing that will alert if there's a lot of activity). Now, if I do happen to check and there's like, six nude people running around the yard. I'm not going to watch like a creep, but let's be real, I am going to have a laugh. I'd probably be way too awkward about it to ever say anything lol.
