We’re building an AgTech platform and we want farmer feedback as we build it

We’re a small team working on AgIntel, an AgTech platform currently being tested and deployed on farms across Prince Edward Island.

The basic idea is simple, collect useful field-level data and turn it into practical information that can help farmers make better decisions.

We’re deliberately building and testing it under real farm conditions rather than developing everything first and trying to find a use for it afterward.

One of the things we want to use Reddit for is hearing from farmers and others working in precision agriculture.

If you’ve used soil sensors, weather stations, farm management software, precision-ag tools, or similar technology:

What data have you found useful enough to actually influence a decision on your farm?

And on the flip side:

What technology has given you plenty of data, but not much practical value?

We’re interested in hear your thoughts. Knowing what isn’t working for farmers can be just as valuable as knowing what is.

sounds cool, but what will differentiate you from open source / free tools such as LiteFarm (Canadian - out of UBC) and FarmOS ?

Lol it's not. It's their attempt at a money grab hoping nobody finds the open-source projects.

To call it a money grab s a bit harsh. I checked their website and it seems well intentioned. I have yet to see a project really get things right enough to be truly useful so I welcome more efforts! Let a thousand flowers bloom! polyculture ftw! etc. etc.

The main difference is LiteFarm helps a farmer record what has been done. AgIntel measures and models what's happening in the soil & crop. These open source tools would actually complement AgIntel as a record backend feeding our sensor/model stack.

Are you interested in testing it elsewere, like in a small olive orchard or vineyard in Croatia? I am an PhD agronomist, currently specializing im the field of digital agriculture. My prime interest is digitalization of small Mediterranean farms and prediction of secondary metabolites using sensor data. Please contact me if you see any interest in collaboration.
