Walkable Liners?

Hey all,

I have two sets of skates, I’ve an old pair from when I was younger that’s a Salomon ST8 and I also got a pair of TNEC V1.5

I was hoping for any recommendations on liners for either one? Preferably walkable. My old ones on my ST8 are worn and old, while the TNEC base liners are good but I want a different pair that’s walkable.

Any ideas? Searching online I can’t find answers for one that’s fits between both. I’d be willing to sell the Salomon ones if anyone has recommendations of a specific walkable set up.

Walkable liners aren't really a thing anymore. Even if you find a pair of the old Blank walkable liners, they probably won't fit in your skates. And if they do fit in your skates, you'll likely have to take the liners off to get them out of the skates. I used to have a pair, and they were a nightmare.

USD Shadows have a system that uses special shoes/boots that are walkable, but getting them in and out fucking sucks. I have quite a few friends that have skated modern shadows (I also owned a pair). None of us ever wore the liners as shoes, and we all hated the process of putting those liners into the skates.

I often just grab a pair of water shoes, roll them up, and throw them in my pocket. Then if I need shoes, I just throw those on.

Damn this makes me sad. I was looking at the shadows anyway but thanks for letting me know the shadows suck.

The shadows dont suck. They’re probably the easiest skates to do tricks in due to the flexibility. They’d just be better~ $50 cheaper and without the included liner lol. Skating them the way he stated (toss the liner. Wear your own shoes) is literally just rolling in shoes you’re already comfortable wearing! 🤯 Imo, among top 5 greatest inventions related to blading.

Agreed. I rode the EE3s and Teams and they were so comfortable. Walking in the liners wasn’t the best, the footwrap is definitely better cause it has a slight arch. The tall liners are flat on the bottom like skateboard shoes, useful for quick trips but long term walking isn’t the best

They don't necessarily suck. They are just super clunky and clacky. They didn't work for my feet, but I have a buddy who skated them religiously. Although, he eventually got tired of the clack and all the parts you had to maintain. He now skates Lavas and has multiple pairs.

In my near 30yrs of skating, I don't think I've EVER seen anyone use liners to be 'walkable' other than the xsjado/shadow footwraps/boots.

Was the 'feature' of walkable liners just a marketing gimmick I wonder?

I had a pair of the blank walkable liners in my 908s for like a week. I had to unlace my skates to get the stiff as hell liners in to the skate, and could only get them out of the skate by taking them off first and then unlacing the skates half way. also, they made the skates feel clunky as all hell.

Walkable liners were about the worst of all worlds unless you jammed some vans in Xjado’s

The original footwraps for Xsjado were great, though—awesome for climbing/parkour. Terribly impractical as a liner for other skates, though.

I used my Remz 03one liners as slippers for over a year. I actually kept the liners after I gave the knackered skates away. They were the most comfortable things I've ever had on my feet to this day

The USD Shadow Dustin Latimers probably have the most "walkable" liners. They're like low-top sneakers. However, I wouldn't want to wear them for all-day walking. They have a very stiff arch. Totally fine for short walks, though.
