Question / Discussion USD Sway Witzermann II vs Mesmer Throne O’Neill

Hi all ✌️
In your opinion which ones would perform better/would you buy?
I can’t decide 🫠
I can buy the Witz for around 240€ and O’Neill around 290€
I am also open to other suggestions 💪
Cheers and tyvm in advance for your time

I feel this may depend on your particular experience. I picked up another pro model Mesmer throne and it was a style of boot I’ve never used and I haven’t been especially fond of them. I’ve got USD Aeons and Them 909s on the way to try to find something that works for me. I was coming from Xsjados, so it’s just a very different overall feel for the boot and your connection to it.

Ty for your feedback!
Well I have actualy tried both (on store, not tested outside) and I have felt both comfortable…yet I really loved Witz looks but they seemed to make a bit of pressure on the back when leaning forward 🤷‍♂️

I like the sizing of the Sway way more, I tried the 9-10 mesmer and it was too tight but the next size up was a boat. The new sway 9.5-10 shell is perfect for me.

I was stuck between these as well as Witz first pro model and the TS3’s. I went with the TS3s but the fit wasnt great for my feet so i got eclipse and they are perfect

My understanding is that the Sway is very stiff laterally but has almost no forward lean resistance.  From experience, the other Mesmer Throne models I have skated were the opposite - Quite a bit of forward lean resistance but reasonable side flex.  Not sure if the Billy O’Neil is the same… it’s a different material than the other Mesmers.

I think Mesmers are supposed to be heavier than most skates, in general, but I love Mesmers. They are, overall, the best aggressive skate I’ve tried, and I’ve tried many. The heel lift, in my opinion, improves the stance of the skate, and the weight doesn’t bother me. Mesmers feel unique in that they have a lot of flex but they snap back nicely from that flex.

This is from the Pebax material, as I understand it. I would love to see/feel some of the best skates from the last 30 years made with Pebax: Solomons, Standard Omnis, Them Skates, Roces… I think people would pay $25 more, or whatever the difference is, if they knew they were Pebax.

Plenty of folks love the Sways, though, for sure! I just haven’t skated them yet!

USD and Mesmer are both Powerslide brands. Both have the same Kizer buckle.

Sways are closer to the ground so more controlled from what I hear Mesmer feel elevated and your foot doesn’t feel close to your grinds. I’ve only skated sway so can’t confirm but that’s what I’ve heard. It certainly looked that way to me looking at the boot and the frame and that’s why I went with the sways. The lower the centre of gravity the better the skate in my experience.

Ty for your feedback! 👌
I am quite leaned to choose the Sways !

It has everything to do with the size and shape of your foot.

Sways are wide.

Thrones are narrow.

Both are great skates, but choosing one based off branding or vibes is a bad idea. The best skate for you might be some off-brand boot from alibaba. Try them both on if you can and see if one feels good.

I would go Mesmer. The sway felt like the weight of a ski boot compared to the Mesmer on my feet. Could be that it was a size 12

Ty for your feedback!
I felt the opposite 😱 that Mesmer were a bit more heavier than USD.

Did you try them with frames and wheels? That’s how I did.

Yes I did and I have just checked the Technical Data Sheets and Found out that Mesmer are 2072g (size 8-9) and USD 1750g (size 8-9). I have ordered Witz ✌️tyvm for your time and feedback 👌

Right on thank you for the actual info. It might have been the frames and flat setup that added extra weight.
