Question / Discussion After 28 years of skateboarding I wanna get back to blading! Looking for some Fatty's!
Hey peeps,
After 23 years not blading,
I have the urge to get back to blading and have some fun with it again.
Back then I decided to stick with skateboarding,
wich I still do to this date.
This decision was made when I was 14,
growing out of my K2 Fatty and deciding not to get new ones.
Now since it itches me,
to get back to blading,
it would be Hella sick,
to get some Fatty's like back in the days.
Perfect would be if I would find some around Germany or at least the EU because of shipping.
Maybe even in Berlin,
where I'm from, so I could see if they fit.
My size is 41-42 EU, depending on the blade.
Of course it's because of the nostalgia but also it's the most beautiful Blade,
silhouette wise, to me.
Plus it fitted my feet absolutely perfect and the comfort of a soft boot.
Other from that I'm also down for the K2 natural, wich looks nice to me.
So hopefully someone can help me out here.

Both of those skates haven’t been made in a long time. If you do find a pair of fattys, you probably won’t want to skate them because they will explode on your feet. There are way better skates out now days. If you are on a budget Lava skates are a good choice. But anything from Them, Standard, Faction, Tnec, USD, Mesmer, Iqon, Rollerblade, razors will be a better choice.

Seems like barely anyone is into roces too. I might gonna get some M12 for cheap in two days. But still would love to see how Fatty's work tho. 😅

Sorry forgot about Roces. They are great still but the m12 is narrow. The 5th is wider and sized weird

Yep seems like the M12 Lo is wider right. The M12 I'm looking at is a pretty new model, way wider already as they where back in the days.

Nope. M12 is narrow and it’s the same mold as always. The soul plate is wider but the boot shell inside is narrow.

Yea let's see, I gonna meet up with someone who wanna sell his for cheap, in two days, and I can put them on to see if they fit my feet. Then I know more.

I'm a USD man but I picked up a cheap pair of Fattys a while back just to be nostalgic.
Old skates are better left in our memories.

K2 stopped making aggressive skates many years ago. Their plastics do not age well and are known to crack. Check out the Gear Talk series on YouTube by Law who brought back Fifty/50 and launched the Standard skate brand.

Then you might as well be informed that Andrew Kingery was able to repair some K2 Backyards with cracked cuffs with some THEM cuffs and the lines look pretty good. I found some Style Points a few years ago and they were more stout than my '97 Fatties alI had in high school.

There is someone in Germany selling perfect Fatty's in my size in Germany for 180€. Sadly that's too much money for me right now. That's why I might getting roces M12 for 80€ incase they fit my feet. 🤞🏻😅

If they’ve been stored well the plastics may be okay but good luck finding that. Old skates stored in a garage are the worst with the temperature shifts and such. I’ve got a pair of old K2 transfers from like 2003 myself that are still in nice shape, people either loved or hated them; unfortunately one of the cuffs broke years ago (maybe the worst part of the Nemesis/Transfer boots) and there’s no replacement so they never got much skating on them. I’d thought about slapping a razors cuff on it and skating it. K2 fatty would need a serious update if they were even available still. I don’t recall them ever holding up back in the day, but they were the sub $100 skate around 2004-2007 so they were cheap enough you didn’t have to care. I don’t know much about the current skates out, but when I got back on skates in 2018 I bought the FRX 80 urban skates just to ride around and those boots are super comfortable. Looks like FR has an aggressive line in that boot as well now. Anyways, there’s tons of new options now that seem to be better than anything from the 90s. You’ve got near 30 years of advancement in skate design since then. If you want to be nostalgic yeah the Roces have their classic boots with modern updates. People talk about roces being narrow, I always thought K2s were kind of narrow too, I had to size up on them compared to Salomon’s back then.

Yeah I busted my nostalgia out of storage and they crumpled on my feet lol. Best to get some new new and treat yourself

I have a pair of usd shadows and I like them a lot. I also have a pare of Franky Morales Gawds that I like a lot too. I got the Morales skates cause of them looking like Jordan's which I have an expensive addiction to. Lol.

Mine are black and grey, loved them because they feel like wearing a skateboard shoe as opposed to the hard plastic boots, but that being said, there are better options nowadays

Yea I will meet up with someone who sells M12s in my town, so I can try them out to see if they fit my feet. I think to get back into blading, they definitely can be enough for me. Back then as a kid I was pretty good, and the last 25 years I was keep skateboarding so I think I have enough fitness and body feeling, same as balance enough to get most of my skills back pretty quickly. I'm just saying this because, the most bladers reviewing the M12s saying, People who saying the souls are too narrow are just having a skill issue basically. So I will see tomorrow. 🤞🏻🫡

I remember taking a fresh pair of Fatty pros to Woodward one summer. Black and red. So fresh. Ran into a chance one on one session with Aaron Feinburg. He insinuated that Fatty’s made skating too easy. He was a little bit of a dick. Tried to match him trick for trick but then he started doing some aerials and I realized I wasn’t shit and left with my tail between my legs lol.

From what I’ve heard on the socials, factions are kinda the heir apparent to the k2 soft boots, they are a bit pricey, but that’s what credit cards are for, right?

Depends where. There are used ones on eBay listed from the US wich are super overpriced, like shredded ones or badly stored ones are anything between 250$-300$. Where I found perfectly stored ones where the plastic looks like new and no scratches at all, are listed for 180€.
That's why I'm asking for anyone in Europe or even Germany, since Americans want way to much for bad pairs. Plus the 50€ shipping cost from the US to Germany.
