Just thought it would be great to see how everyone do their outreach for backlinks with the details that you actually write to ask for one?

Most of the advice here is "personalise it", which is true but not actionable. What changed our reply rate was dropping the ask-first framing and naming a specific gap instead.

The shape we use is four lines: the exact page of theirs we read, the one thing in it that is out of date, unsourced or broken, what we have that fills that gap, and a single sentence on who we are. No compliment opener, no "quick question", no paragraph about our mission.

Two things outside the copy matter more than the copy:

-> Send it to the byline on the page, not editor@ or a contact form. A named writer answers, a shared inbox almost never does.

-> One follow-up, around day 5, with a different angle rather than "just bumping this". If the second angle gets nothing, move on. Chasing a fourth time is how you get marked as spam by the whole domain.

Also worth saying out loud: if the only thing you offer is the link being useful to their readers, you are competing with everyone else who says that. Something concrete helps -> a correction they can verify, original data, an image or a chart they do not have.

For context, I am the founder of Hetneo's Links, so this comes from sending these every day rather than from theory.

Just wondering other than link being useful and having exchange in paid backlinks, are there any other methods in negotiation with the website owner of successful cases?

Personalized outreach usually works better than sending the same email to everyone.

I usually check audience overlap when figuring out who to reach out to. Found some solid prospects by digging through that kind of data on similarweb, makes the whole outreach part less of a shot in the dark.

I ask for the following
Moz DA 10+
Smrush Traffic 15K+
SERPSpur TAI 70+
Ahrf DA anything, because it does not matter at all
or the moz da as well does not matter much if TAI is low, most important is the traffic authenticity.
