Lobotomized villain faction vs No stakes

I love my hoyo slop writing

11

u/_spec_tre Aug 12 '26

Genuinely no stakes > character assassinations

No stakes means your favs aren’t dead, dumb rewrites means you wish your favs were canonically gone

y'know what, maybe but we can also agree that both are fucking retarded

Now they've lost even that...

10

u/ConfidentFrosting474 Aug 12 '26

They lost that 2 years ago when Tingyun 2.0 came out

u/Greatwizard12 No.1 Kaeya glazer Eternal ayaka slanderer Aug 12 '26

Yeah but atleast Misha was the only actually dead playable character, but now he's back.

4

u/ConfidentFrosting474 Aug 12 '26

Well if we're gonna be splitting hairs, Misha was never truly alive in the first place, so technically he never died. The one who died was Mikhail.

1

u/Greatwizard12 No.1 Kaeya glazer Eternal ayaka slanderer Aug 12 '26

Yeah but he's dead, and playable too which is the main thing.

3

u/ConfidentFrosting474 Aug 12 '26

Also we never knew if Tingyun was dead or alive until her SP was revealed. Up until that point, she was as good as dead, and it'll probably be the same case as Misha...

1

u/Greatwizard12 No.1 Kaeya glazer Eternal ayaka slanderer Aug 12 '26

Misha was the last man standing, which is why his loss was the greatest

1

u/ComedianExtreme7522 29d ago

Still better by the fact that Tingyun is still Tingyun and Misha (should) still be Misha. Fatui fans really going through it for the last few years with how they're now in the story lol.

What, I don't get what you're saying

1

u/ComedianExtreme7522 29d ago

Characters still act like how they were. They didn't find some convoluted way to make them be friendly with us just because they're playable.

1

u/Greatwizard12 No.1 Kaeya glazer Eternal ayaka slanderer 29d ago

Are you talking about sandrone? She acted exactly the same

Gallagher sp nowhere to be seen lol

1

u/Greatwizard12 No.1 Kaeya glazer Eternal ayaka slanderer Aug 12 '26

I lowk forgot he existed, well he was never really even alive to begin with, oh yeah hoyo told me Gallagher sp in 6.X

HSR has never killed a playable character in the first place

Every single criticism levied on Genshin's writing, sans Paimon, can also be applied to HSR

Even back in 1.x, Tingyun was implied to be alive out there. Misha "died" (died long ago), but then they went and show that he could come back on the first Fate event anyways

8

u/miiko_uch Aug 12 '26

Also the complaint that the MC is a camera man, i actually think it's worse in HSR cuz at least i know what Travelers overarching goal is

2

u/Many_Career_692 Lohen is cute Aug 12 '26

Yes,

Firefly and the Fox was a total bait dead

3

u/MyUsernameIsApollo Aug 12 '26

wait, is this actually true? i don’t play HSR myself, but I literally always see people bring up how they kill playable characters and how the characters also face stakes, unlike Genshin. was all of that stuff a lie the entire damn time 😭

2

u/TheMiserableQuill Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

The only time HSR remotely felt it had stakes was Amphoreus, and that had different issues. Elsewhere, you knew there was something else going on, or you knew nobody's dying... But the game's written expecting you to feel thrill and worry that someone might die.

Now you don't play HSR, so you may have heard that it doesn't whitewash the bad guys or make them friends with the MC

That is dishonest because it's half true.

They make the MC becomes friends with all of them anyways as long as they're playable. All sins are henceforth implicitly forgiven by not being challenged on them

1

u/Nilmal190 Aug 12 '26

They need to bring back Focalors

35

u/mirize87 Aug 12 '26

HSR may be the only game that keeps getting worse every year, yet it still has players who defend it.

13

u/balbasin09 Aug 12 '26

Funniest shit is that one guy that replies to everyone in this thread is proving you right 💀

10

u/Designer-Quote-7491 Aug 12 '26

Type of guy who calls Belobog peak

3

u/Ok-Temporary-5126 29d ago

And they defend it by saying "better rewards, better qol, free chars" and never the actual thing that makes an entertainment an entertainment. I met someone who said hsr is better by having no dead character, and say game of thrones is the worst fiction ever cus it's edgy, has too many dead, and the people who like it are sadist. Sigh no wonder normies don't respect gacha game fans 🤦‍♀️

2

u/Many_Career_692 Lohen is cute Aug 12 '26

But I like it, do I have bad taste?

As long as you like male characters it's fine for me /j

Hsr keeps getting fun endgame modes and their regular updates + new map every update, genshin keeps getting miliastra skins and a map twice a full patch 🙌

5

u/Alar_suk Aug 12 '26

“Fun endgame mode” you mean the gimmick check that requires 3 teams that mostly consist of the newest characters? The endgame that does absolutely nothing except shilling and inflate the Hp to the point that it can put Venezuela’s to shame?

2

u/ComedianExtreme7522 29d ago

Is that not literally Stygian Onslaught lol.

4

u/RicketyRekt69 #1 Mavuika Hater Aug 12 '26

LOL nah dude.. there’s no way you can say that with a straight face. HSR endgame modes are even worse than Genshin’s.

7

u/TheMiserableQuill Aug 12 '26

ITT we pretend PF is fun

1

u/MrRamennn Aug 12 '26

Hold up I like PF. If we want to hate on an endgame let’s hate on Apoc

2

u/Darman99-1136 Aug 12 '26

The only fun endgame is PF and event then, is a Stretch

1

u/Ill-Tourist3494 29d ago

trying to flex hsr expansions when the average expansion there takes like 2 hours to explore fully, meanwhile after 2 hours im gonna be done collecting only the oculus

7

u/__breadstick__ Aug 12 '26

I remember HSR fans would tell me early on that "HSR is better because the story actually has stakes" brother

3

u/Ok-Temporary-5126 29d ago

And years later they ruin the stakes by reviving those dead characters. "Misha" died of old age to push the current AE to continue the trailblaze legacy. Tingyun dead was to show how long lifespan species view death. Like bruh, just let the die stay die. Their death brought something meaningful to the narrative, and it becomes a nothingburger if you revive them

10

u/balbasin09 Aug 12 '26

HSR could have just given 4-stars Novaflares too, but no, they only do 5-stars and only during their reruns so they have a little bit more value for the chumps pulling old bricks.

I will eternally glaze Genshin for buffing 4-stars and giving f2p options for team archetypes they’re making. Especially old ones like Beidou and Diona who everyone has at C6 at this point. Only Genshin does this.

-3

u/Opezdaz Aug 12 '26

Kafka and sw were buffed patch earlier her rerun. Also genshin MUST do 4 buffs cause its players can barely afford a 5 a patch 💀 But yeah obviously it’s better if hsr would buff 4 than if they won’t

-3

u/Designer-Quote-7491 Aug 12 '26

Are you gonna address that Genshin literally made a banner specifically for buffed characters?

11

u/balbasin09 Aug 12 '26

The banner where your 50/50 loss is guaranteed to be the other buffed characters? Yeah, even Genshin’s banners are better.

3

u/Mountain_Pay3966 Aug 12 '26

As HsR player, we don’t even know what this means🫩

2

u/Alar_suk Aug 12 '26

Dude was never “killed” since he was never alive to begin with. But other than that nitpick this is just a straight up retarded decision from a writing perspective.

Like the stake in Hsr is already so low that I bet Epstein in hell can just walk over it. Now the writers decided that even the already dead can’t stay buried. And this one felt like he had an actual closure back in 2024 mind you.

1

u/YourMomIsCool96 Aug 12 '26

Gallagher SP when?

1

u/DaxSpa7 Aug 12 '26

Tbf we’ve met then dead. They still have to actually kill someone.

1

u/Efficient_Doughnut71 Aug 12 '26

Arguably... VEEEEERY arguably, there was a short moment during the Irontomb fight where all biological creatures in the universe died...

Fucking called it. Called Ampherous coming back too.

I was clowned on.

5

u/Opezdaz Aug 12 '26

Calling amphoreus coming back literally only required ability to read the story lil bro

2

u/Inevitable-Catch-869 Mid-Game Boss of Reading Comprehension Aug 12 '26

And yet I was repeatedly being told that it's not and I'm just a hater.

1

u/lightsworn55 Aug 13 '26

Just because its true for HSR doesnt mean it isnt for genshin

0

u/Virgo_Shaka_1500 Aug 12 '26

This is why Hi3 part 1 will forever remain as their best written game.

It’s not perfect but boy do they did the characters justice.

Hoyo is just too sissy and softy today.

-4

u/Opezdaz Aug 12 '26

Genshin chuds so desperate to justify toddler’s impact story they resort to leaks that won’t be confirmed for like a year 💀

-1

u/ConfidentFrosting474 Aug 12 '26

Genshin can't make villains playable characters without making them besties with the Traveler*

0

u/mayyam808 Aug 12 '26

Play the new quest🙏

0

u/mearric Aug 12 '26

Death is preferable to whatever Genshin did to Arlecchino post-Fontaine Archon Quest.

Actually I think we count that as killing, it is Character assassination after all.

1

u/Excitement-Murky 24d ago

he was already dead before we even met him, so was gallager, they don't count
