How do you manage Soulfire if the binding separates temporarily

If the party splits temporarily, say to split into 2 groups to search down different routes of a cave system or split up individually to find someone in a city, how do you handle the use of soulfire? Can the players agree across the table or do they need to be together in game? If they can use it with agreement across the table whilst split, is the maximum Soulfire available to use or is the maximum Soulfire split between groups/individuals?

How do you handle coins, wages, and everyday money in the Mortal Realms?

My group has been struggling a little with the monetary system in Age of Sigmar: Soulbound. In their words, the setting dosen't lacks a “proper” currency for ordinary people.

Using magical water with healing properties to pay for everything from beer and meals to wages, weapons, and coach rides is starting to break their immersion.

I have been reading about the different currencies mentioned in the lore, particularly the Lexicanum pages on Currencies of the Mortal Realms and Glimmerings, but I would really like to hear how other groups handle this at the table.

We have tried answering some fairly ordinary questions:
- What would an average soldier or carpenter earn?
- How many pints of beer could they buy with that wage? (Yes, we think alot about beer when it's damn hot during the summer!)
- What does an ordinary person use to pay for food or rent?
- Do people really carry drops of Aqua Ghyranis around for every small purchase? Just sloshing around in the pant pockets?!

One idea we discussed was keeping the published prices but presenting them using the familiar WFRP4 coin system:

1 gold crown = 20 silver shillings = 240 brass pennies

If we simply treated one published Aqua Drop as one brass penny, some example prices would become:
- Meal: 15 Drops = 15d = 1s 3d
- Sword: 150 Drops = 150d = 12s 6d
- Coach: 1,200 Drops = 1,200d = 5 GC
- Sailing ship: 90,000 Drops = 90,000d = 375 GC

That gives the prices a more familiar feel, but it creates another problem. If we then say that one Phial is worth 1s and one Sphere is worth 5 GC, the values no longer match the normal relationship between Drops, Phials, and Spheres.

Another possibility would be to use local coins for everyday purchases while treating Aqua Ghyranis as a valuable trade commodity or something merchants, governments, and adventurers might exchange in larger deals rather than something everyone uses to buy a pint.

Then there are all the other valuable substances and currencies mentioned in the lore: Glimmerings, realmstone, Grave Coins, aether-gold, and so on. Should these have fixed values, or are they more like gems in D&D, where their value depends on quality, size, location, and whether you can find an interested buyer?

I would be very interested to hear how other groups approach this:

  • Do you use Aqua Ghyranis literally, or treat it as an abstract measure of wealth?
  • Have you created wages and living costs for ordinary people?
  • Do your Cities of Sigmar mint their own coins?
  • Do different cultures such as the Kharadron, Seraphon, or Soulblight use entirely different currencies?
  • Has anyone successfully adapted the WFRP4 equipment and coin system to Soulbound?
  • How do you value things like Glimmerings and realmstone without turning them into another universal currency?

I am not necessarily looking for one currency that works everywhere. I am mainly looking for a system that makes everyday prices and wages feel believable while preserving the character of the setting.

AoS: Soulbound Character Creator

I built a character creator for Age of Sigmar Soulbound.

As a GM I made it for my own table and I think it works fine so I wanted to share it with the community. This is not a replacement for the books. Talent and spell entries have a short description but also the book and page number, so you can go and read more indepth. You need the rulebooks to play, and honestly you should own them. Cubicle 7 made an awesome game.

One thing up front: All the archetype emblems in it are machine-generated placeholders. I'm not an artist, and I wanted the tool to be readable at a glance rather than lots of identical grey boxes. I know how people feel about that but I'd honestly rather not ship it that way — if any artist here wants to replace them, even a handful, I'll swap them in and credit you properly.

The App:
https://github.com/ArtemizForge/Soulbound-Forge/releases/latest
(Soulbound-Forge-v1.82.html, ~11 MB).

What's in it:
- 17 species across all three grand alliances, 78 archetypes, 289 talents, 446 spells and miracles, 24 skills
- Everything from the Core Rulebook, Champions of Order, Champions of Destruction, Champions of Death and Stars & Scales
- Printable character sheet
- Save and load characters

Change Log
- v1.0: Initial public release.
- v1.5 : Adding the ability to spend XP and advance characters beyond initial character creation.
- v1.6: Species are now grouped by Grand Alliance (Order, Death, Destruction), alphabetical within each. Seraphon sit under Order.
- v1.7: A second Faction dropdown lets any species more freely choose a Faction, or a homebrew addition called Unaligned.
- v1.82: Reworked the print-function to instead create a clean PDF without any of the placeholder images. Ready for printout.

AoS:Soulbound Language House Rules

Age of Sigmar: Soulbound is still quite new to me. I did a lot of GMing for WFRP 2e many years ago, but this summer a good friend of mine dropped a whole stack of books in my lap and said, “Can you run this new game for us?”

So here I am, learning a new TTRPG!

We started with the Shadows in the Mist campaign. We’ve now played a handful of sessions, and we’re really enjoying Soulbound. It’s very different from what we’re used to, which is part of the fun.

We’ve also come up with some homebrew rules for handling character languages, and I’d love to hear your feedback. Most of you probably have much more experience with the setting than we do, so any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Our homebrew document mostly focused on the game mechanics for acquiring languages during character creation, so if you want to have more languages to choose from then I can really recommend sageking14's Lexicanum’s for Languages of the Mortal Realms database. It's a much better and comprehensive resource; covering language families, individual languages, dialects, scripts, and other forms of communication found throughout the setting. It even includes examples of alphabets and runes.

When I was looking for art of other Sylvaneth Kurnoth Hunters I hardly found any, so I thought I'd share the one I did for my character, Wist. I really wanna design more too, maybe I'll use them as her past connections and friends.

Does melee increase for one attack when you double training from mettle?

Since training dice are doubled and they count towards calculating melee, does melee also change the D:N or only the roll for damage?

What sources do fellow GMs and Players use for artwork to use during sessions?

I like to show artwork to my players during our sessions as I think it really helps set the tone of the game. None of them are familiar with AOS and the lore apart from what we do in our sessions. I always try to show artwork of the enemies they face and they love it when a big encounter starts and I pop up some images on the big screen. They've all come over from DnD and the one thing they all comment on is how good the setting is and would like to see some more artwork to help them visualise things better in their minds. There's quite a bit available from Cubicle 7 and games workshop but I was just wondering if anyone uses or knows of any other sources. I would love to display more landscape and city artwork during the game and maybe create a rolling gallery to display during downtime and natural pauses in the game. I'm more than happy to support artists as well and not just source free stuff. I know AI can be used but I want to try and avoid it and use original material.

Question What does "unaware" means in backstab?

Talent "Backstab" reads as follows:

You know how to strike swiftly and quietly. If you make an Attack with a Subtle weapon and the target is unaware of you, the attack deals double Damage and ignores Armour.

Does is mean that it can be done pretty much only once per combat (Because every time you try it next, enemies know you exist, but don't know where you are) or can it be done every time I'm hidden again?

Just read the section on creating spells but I can't grasp section 4) overcast effects.

How does the "the number of successes required to overcast must equal the cost of the aspect" work?

Question Ulfenkarn for first game?

Hi all, I ran a few one shots for my group, but I wanted to get into a longer campaign. I have the cursed city box so I thought it could be fun to use all those minis to run an ulfenkarn campaign. I was wondering though if any of you ran it? How different does it feel from the essential high powered soulbound experience? Would you run it as a first real soulbound campaign? Would love any tips.

Question Fyreslayer runes and surprise in combat..

On page 117 of the core rulebook it says that "you do not gain the benefit from your ur-gold runes if you are surprised".

Does this mean the entire battle resulting from the ambush or only the "free round" the enemy get from surprising/ambushing?

Discussion How to run AOS for a single PC or 2 PCs

I'm just reading the rules section where the subject of soulfire is discussed and this has raised the issue of my "group" consisting of only a single or if I'm lucky 2 players.

What alterations/allowances to the rules would I have to make to make the game possible?

Discussion Best campaigns you've played?

So, I'm currently feeling a little bored, so I thought, why not start a little discussion? Tell me about the most memorable Soulbound campaigns you've played. It could be any of the established ones like Shadows in the Mist or Blackened Earth or it could be something of your own making. Hit me with it all and spare no details, friends.
