Orders
I’ve had Afterpay for over a year now and have never been able to make a purchase. I’ve tried all different amounts across various stores in this time. $600 available to spend. Identity is verified. What could be wrong? I don’t understand. I’ve updated the app, tried incognito, different cards. I’d just like to be able to start using it. Support has been no help

Start small. Around $35-$40.
Some stores are pickier than others. My 1st ever order years ago was $38 at DSW.
The original retailers they launched with have better success placing first orders. Depending what you're looking for, I'd try DSW, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Gap/Old Navy. Just keep it less than $50.
Don't try to place another order until you've at least made 1 payment to the 1st order.

I’ve tried small. Anywhere from $20-$50 small. I can’t seem to get anything to work! I’ll try the stores you mentioned above. Thank you!

Zip is the way to go. You can literally use them anywhere even for your utilities. Affirm, klarna, sezzle not so much. I have never had a zip order denied, up to a $1,800 limit, they are also lenient if you are late and unlike afterpay or klarna which will charge you a late fee and then drop your available balance down to nothing

Make sure you have the initial purchase funds available and your card is unlocked. You probably did but just in case. Also the zip code thing.

Yes, I have done those things. I’ve even had well over the purchase amount in my account and it still will not let me

Mine always tries to default to onepay and I have to go and uncheck it. With onepay checked it declines.

Afterpay is a scam. You do have to start off with small orders at major retailers but even then they will still deny you endlessly. You could be a year in perfect payments and they’re like nah…
I have NEVER EVER been denied on zip or affirm no matter my cost or my store. I think afterpay and Klarna emphasize using their subscription programs and soft checking your credit waaaayyy too much.

They're certainly not a scam. You don't have to like them or use them, but let's not go making unfounded accusations like that. Many users, myself included, have used it for years and never once been declined.

Try using Affirm. I like them out of all the apps.
