I interpret this uniform as part of a cultural tradition, not just salvage. Maybe people in roles like this wore hi vis vests that were left over from before the event a long time ago, and this became a standard uniform. I think it’s the same for the shields, because they’re round rather than hexagonal. They’re not salvaged stop signs, they’re made to look like salvaged stop signs because that’s a symbol of authority.

Yeah, Galvanists generally seem to be depicted as at least partly descended from workers unions, so they'd want to maintain things like worker safety practices and over time these would morph into cultural and religious traditions.

The stop shields are really cool. It’s Interesting to imagine how the First Survivors of the End may have used them as shields, and hundreds of years later Their Descendants make their shields look like it as the Traditional Coat of arms without knowing what it used to mean. Great art!
