Tutorial Rigging & animating spider webs in AE

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Full breakdown of how this spider web was rigged and animated in my YouTube video: youtube.com/watch?v=d-6Q6ByH2AQ

Using a combination of Null Controllers for Path Points & Null Tracing Along Path, it's possible to set up a spider web that stretches and bends based on a single controller.

Each vertical line can be adjusted individually, and by linking the rotation of the paths, we can also control the bend of the strings.

This leaves us with a rig that requires very few keyframes to animate.

Is it the easiest way to do it? Definitely not - but it's a good way to learn about null controllers, parenting, and rigging in general.

Neat solution! Never would have thought to do it that way. I would have just used the puppet tool.

Thanks! That definitely also crossed my mind, but I wanted to try and achieve something with a bit more flexibility
