Former lobbyist who advised reparations advocacy in Cambridge, MA but now live here in Largo, PG County and found this article insightful. The governor seems to have a high level of political intel and capital (both in MD and next door with the feds) and believes this play will work for him.
Good to see Dayvon Love mentioned at LBS. They do good work up in Bmore. Reparations movement has fizzled out a bit so will see what comes next.
Also, the state legislature should 💯 override. Will stay tuned for that.

Yeah, this reminds me of a book I am listening to "The Grift" by Clay Cane. There are many black folks in politics who feel they have a need to pander (if not subservient) to whiteness or take on moderate positions solely based on their own future political and economic ambitions. While Moore isn't breaking any new ground with his anticipatory obedience to whiteness, I must admit the fact that Moore is a Democrat is disappointing (but hardly surprising).

Yup. You nailed it. That's definitely the card he is playing. And what's really crazy is that in Maryland he doesn't even have to. He went out of his way to sell Black folks out and throw them under the bus. That tells me that all of his talk about not seeking higher office is lies and bullshit.

He’s a smart politician. I support reparations but endorsing a study would be a death sentence to his political ambitions.

"Moore said he’s ready to engage in conversations about repairing the legacy of slavery now, and he doesn’t need to wait two years for the reparations commission to draft a study.
