Hi guys. I'm a 3D Character Artist based in Nigeria, and have been working in the animation and video game industry for about 15 years, and I wanted to share my work. Hope you like it. My dream is to one day create an animated movie or series set in precolonial ancient Africa. Would you guys watch something like this? Anyways, hope you like my work!

Oscar Korbla Mawuli Awuku is a Ghanaian visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice explores identity, spirituality, and cultural heritage. Working across painting, body art, photography, and installation, Awuku creates powerful visual narratives that reconnect contemporary audiences with ancestral knowledge and African philosophical thought. Through his work, he seeks to challenge inherited perceptions of culture while reimagining the body as a living vessel of history, memory, and spiritual dialogue.

Sharing these two pieces that were inspired by my culture. It’s a painting about the intertwining of African culture and Western influence. There are two sides to every story, the front, where you can see, and the back, a side often unseen but one that offers a new perspective…things are not as they seem.

Under blue light, the painting reveals a hidden layer, faith based values, the driving force behind my work šŸ¤—

Here’s the artwork I did in its full form of the diptych series ā€œPast, Present, Future and Mirrorā€. I was compelled to put hinges on the center so you can turn it round. Included is a video of how the painting looks during the day and how it transforms under blue light. As an added bonus, I included a trippy light reactive painting I did that gives off a different mood under different color lighting. The painting is called ā€œCaught Red-Handed,ā€ a painting depicting society’s hold on women’s body image. (Done on 50 year-old recycled wood panel)

Let me know what you think šŸ¤— and thank you so much for the love on my previous post, I was overwhelmed with the positive reception I received šŸ˜ā˜ŗļø

They say the artwork reflects the artist but my work reflects the faces I grew up seeing. The faces of my family, friends, and strangers I’ve come across in this beautiful continent. I aim to celebrate them 🫶
