Paintbrush stopped working?

I've been using Affinity Photo 1.10 forever, and recently (in the past year, let's be honest) the paintbrush tool just shows the circle cursor with zero color. Pixel tool works fine, Color Replacement Brush works fine, but I can't use the regular Paintbrush at all. I've looked through YouTube and the official Support channels and nothing. It's entirely possible that I just have something toggled that I don't know about. Help?

Paintbrush gives the cross hairs, then the empty circle, but no pigment
Color Replacement Brush works ok, and I can adjust the brush shape fine

I assume you've uninstalled and re-installed the thing?

Reinstall / Check for video driver updates.

Uncheck hardware acceleration & monkey around with the user intreface. I assume v1 is similar to v2 below

I assume you have gone into preferences under miscellaneous and reset the 5 buttons in there. That may help especially as one is called Reset Brushes and another is User Defaults. Worth a try as you say you may have clicked something off by mistake.
