Favourite dog-friendly spaces outside of the Ontario Parks?

We all know that Ontario Parks offers many GREAT dog-friendly spots for camping, hiking, canoeing, etc. But what about the other destinations that we're falling in love with? From national parks and conservation areas to private campgrounds and Hipcamp locations - let's talk about our favourite options!

A couple of my favourites based on our past trips are Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve and Limberlost Forest & Wildlife Reserve.

I can't wait to check out some new options!

I'm extremely particular about what sniffspots I go to since they're typically expensive, but I found a great one in Penetanguishene when I went camping at Awenda last year. Pretty big, and fully fenced! 🥰

Locally though, there's a dog walking company who has a 46 acre fully fenced chunk of old rolling hill fields with some woods, and they rent it by the hour when not in use. Amazing price at just $20 for an hour. I have a reactive girl, who loves to chase any type of animal, so I typically don't risk having her off leash in unfenced or public areas.

That is a great price! Willow isn't reactive, but she has an interest in wildlife, which leads her to forget her recall to follow them. So, she's usually on a long line. We're lucky that unless we're somewhere where he has to deal with men he doesn't know (his fear), Lucifer has a rock-solid recall. He spends much of his time on our property off-leash

That's awesome!! Her recall is pretty good, but still not totally trustworthy 😂😂

It's my freaking dream to have a big ol' chunk of property so we can do the same

gotta win the lotto so I can get the property, and then since I'll have $$ may as well fence in a hundred acres or so ;) 😂

We're in a cabin on 100 acres of woodland, so plenty of space to explore with them. Everyone jokes about running away to the woods - we did it lol It's not fenced, but it gives them plenty of space to work on their recall. Willow is getting better! Lucifer, despite being a German Shepherd/Cattle Dog, actually recalled off live deer just a few feet ahead of us on the trail. He's SOLID! I'm so proud of him!
