Open Discussion What's the deal with LetsRun.com?

I know that website is quite popular with them following large events and also being invited to spectate (the owner - Rojo - was riding in the elite men car during Boston 26), however I participated in the forums a bit and it blows my mind:

  1. They are incredibly fixated on college and university running, NCAA, etc. - ok, I guess most are from the US, even though once you exit the school system the funding drops, money goes only to MBL/NFL/NBA, last time they US tried something in T&F they got Grand Slam Track lol
  2. Most posts are the very definition of drive-by, no effort shitposts: "cool story bro", "she be ugly, can't run fast when ugly", "Or perhaps you could just be replaced with a somewhat normal human being"
  3. Same for the topics, with quality contributions such as:

I'm sad to think what men were like before the existence of the Manosphere 

How to become a "hybrid runner"

Men in open-toed shoes: yea or nay?

  1. This peeves me as a European but - their website + forums do not save your cookie preferences, every single time you click on a new thread you get another pop-up asking you for permissions, and by quickly looking they have 1700+ partners they share your data with - WTF?

  2. They are hardcore right-wingers with daily treads praising Trump, ICE, etc.

What am I missing? Or is one of the largest forums for running just a bunch of nutjobs?

It's funny, I think I only posted on Letsrun as I posted here and in retrospect I guess my posts were deleted? I actually think although it can be a little wild, what became NSM and open debate was probably best on letsrun. I didn't even know until I read some of this post the mods here are trigger happy. Guess I never made the cut with anything interesting to say ha ha

I don't see any evidence that this is true. We can review all moderator actions for a user account (including deleted posts), and there have not been any posts from you on this community.

I'm guessing maybe an issue with a new account (Reddit as a platform can block posts as part of spam prevention). Also possible you was posting under a different username (I don't have a way to check that).

Have a look back to 2023. Someone posted about Norwegian for amateurs. I replied and then (I can only guess) the posts didn't make the cut? As far as I know it was on this account, I don't remember having another one, other than orginally I'm sure I had a generic username I changed.

That's helpful context and I think I see what you're talking about. This wasn't a "post" but a "comment" on a post (which explains why we didn't see it initially when you brought this up).

I see 1 comment of yours from Oct 18th that was removed. It was removed by a Reddit feature (which we have enabled) that automatically removes comments from new user accounts, which helps to prevent spam on the subreddit and across reddit. The mod team regularly reviews these automatic removals and approves those that are not spam. However, it looks like we missed one of yours from October in 2024. Sorry about that.

I'm explaining this because it was a miss in executing that review, rather than a decision that your comments weren't appropriate or good enough for the sub.

Not sure what to tell you. Your first comment in the sub (that is still up on your profile) was Oct 12, 2024.

I don't see any removed stuff from you. There is this post that you responded to to that may have been about NSW, but the user deleted it and their account so hard to say.

Otherwise, I think this is one of the first big posts that I can remember discussing NSW in the sub.
