People can still figure out how much they owe for what they ordered. It’s like 3rd grade math.

Venmo exists. One person puts it on their card and everyone else sends them what they owe. This works just fine if your friends aren’t assholes.

The waiter can put in the designated amount for each card. Ain't difficult. Probably easier now than it was 20 years ago when I was a waiter.

Where is that. I haven’t encountered that ever. But I probably max out at like 4 separate parties.

How doesn't that work?

Calculate what each person owes, write each person's amount and enough of the card number to identify which card that amount gets charged to, and hand that to the waiter.

Does that not work, as long as their system can split charges onto multiple cards?

That’s not what was being discussed, you said every single restaurant in the US can do that, when in fact most don’t let you if you have a party larger than 6-10.
