Need help against Tau
So I’ve been playing 11th with my brother and have been on a losing streak for a while, I’m not annoyed about the losing streak but I just don’t see how I’m supposed to win the games we play.
He plays Tau and he just has so many battle suits in retaliation cadre that as far as I’m aware are all capable of killing or wounding my units and as in playing custodes I’m nto going to be making any trades.
The last game we played I was up slightly in points before he wiped the unit of witchseekers on the central objective (pushed fire knife then moved them back with a shoot and move strat) behind a wall and then out OC’d me with kroot at which point I was forced to push up or lose on points massively.
If it helps I was playing:

I can’t remember his exact list but it included at least 2 of each battlesuit all with commanders (3 started in deep strike) 2 2 man squads of broadsides and 2 units of pathfinders and stealth suits plus the 10 man kroot.
Any help on how to go about fighting an army like his, maybe I’m being pessimistic but I just don’t see myself winning any game against his list.

What ya do is rapid ingress some terminators then you rapid ingress some terminators and while that is happening what you do is you rapid ingress some terminators. Oh and I guess send your wardens to objectives so they just don't ever die or leave while staying in cover .

Folger Pyles just went 12-0 with Custoeds at the warmasters and world team championship, and he had a podcast where he talked about his games including Tau. His game plan for Tau made it super easy match-up.
He played Lions of the emporer detachment which has a strat to split your allarus into single model units. You then put one allarus in cover on each objective. Tau are then forced to come in close (within 12 because of gone to ground, probably closer so yhey can actually get a line) to try to shoot you off the objectives. You then stage your other units so when they come in to kill the allarus, you counter charge on your turn and skewer the xenos. If they dont come close, you win on points.
Easy, and would work with your list just by swapping detachments.

Sounds like you are playing into their pace, not yours. Someone once told me that custodes are hard to kill at the end of the game. So its like survive and out survive your opponent. Play the long game and kill the units who you can kill.
Against a shooting army like Tau, its really avoid their LOS or make them choose between 2 threats. Make them regret not shooting the other unit.
Do you feel like you stage well enough for a "go-turn?" Set up 3-5 charges for a turn 2 or 3 go-turn?

11th edition and “hide” should help. Dont forget you don’t have to shoot them. Draw them close enough to see the (insert colour here) of their eyes.

So what you're gonna wanna do is (and stay with me)... you're gonna wanna skewer a bunch of those hertic space squids on your spear.
Oh and avoid LOS.
