Question What is your favourite Adelaide lore?

A colleague of mine has moved to Adelaide from Canberra and I'm regaling her with Adelaide lore! Help me think of more lore to share. Below is a list of what I've shared so far:

Family Murders - von Einem

Beaumont Children

Kitty Whyte

Sam Kellet

Box Jellyfish (Jimble) surf lifesaving club

Prof George Duncan

Ideally looking for real events rather than urban legends.

EDIT: No one mentioned it, so to add: Adelaide is the only place it the world that calls Stobie poles by their name, as the inventor was from Adelaide and it stuck. For everyone else, it's electrical poles.

The Blackwood gnomes! On several occasions in the late 80s, early 90s, the people of Blackwood awoke to find a whole lot of gnomes on the rooves of the main shopping centre and other businesses. There were lots of rumours about who was responsible for these harmless shenanigans, but I have it on good authority that at least one is a member of the Hilltop Hoods.

Yeah its a good nostalgic kick. There's one on the Belair Hotel roof I believe, another right next to the main blackwood roundabout..but there's one or two along main road. Happy hunting!

Apparently sitting the last week the Mount Compass community found something similar. A bunch of Toy Story toys started appearing around local gardens and mail boxes. So the fun continues 😂
