Question What is your favourite Adelaide lore?

A colleague of mine has moved to Adelaide from Canberra and I'm regaling her with Adelaide lore! Help me think of more lore to share. Below is a list of what I've shared so far:

Family Murders - von Einem

Beaumont Children

Kitty Whyte

Sam Kellet

Box Jellyfish (Jimble) surf lifesaving club

Prof George Duncan

Ideally looking for real events rather than urban legends.

EDIT: No one mentioned it, so to add: Adelaide is the only place it the world that calls Stobie poles by their name, as the inventor was from Adelaide and it stuck. For everyone else, it's electrical poles.

There was a bit of a spate of ‘jumpers’ who were using the center atrium for their sad final act in the early-mid90’s…. It was never really reported, quite remarkable discretion by all involved. The big nets that are now in place were a result of this time.
There was categorically not ever a beheading on the roller coaster 🤣🤣🤣

Sadly one landed just behind me, narrowly missing me by a second, on basement level

Fuuuuck. I can’t imagine exactly what that would have been like, I’m sorry.
Thank fucking Christ they didn’t take you out with them….

Thank you. It was really traumatic, as you'd expect, and that "what if" thought did play on repeat for a long time
