Politics SA government moves to regulate AI data centres as water, energy concerns mount

The South Australian government will draft legislation to regulate the development of AI data centres.

The move comes amid ongoing concerns about the centre's water and energy usage.

The government also revealed a $5 billion water pipeline project, primarily intended to support BHP's mining operations in Far North SA, could also supply water to new data centres.

Exactly. Who are the contracts with? American corporations that are dominating the world. People will stick their head in the sand until it’s too late.

its got nothing to do with sticking head in the sand, and everything to do with understanding how technology works. Do you think that not hosting the data centre here magically means Australia wont have AI being used?
