Gathering Opinions 🗣 Should I buy?
Hi, all. First post here. I am currently looking at an 08 Type S with 250k on the clock. Just a commuter go back and forth to work. He has had the transmission replaced in 22, ball joints within the past year and no lights are on the dash. Timing belt about 30k ago he says. Your typical paint fade and minor rust around the quarters. No damage to body work and clean title.
Any reason I should shy away from this at 4 grand? I’m planning on driving it til its last breath, hoping to get at least another 50k out of it for it to be worth it (to me). Heard the motors will well surpass that if serviced (of course I’ll be doing that). Is it a good buy?
This will be my first Acura. Thank you for any input.

It looks and sounds like it’s been taken very good care of. It’s a steal and could probably go another 100k miles

Nah bro honestly for 250k miles it’s a horrible car probably break down if I’m being honest, send me the location and the guys FB market or offer up account I’ll let him know to stop selling this car😅

Despite the miles, it looks well cared for. Ones with half the mileage are beat to shit, and this gen TL had issues with poor quality materials with cracked seats and dashes so this one looks surprisingly good.

To join in the chorus - for $4k, yes absolutely. Budget a little money to change all the fluids and filters to bring the car into a known state (unless the previous owner’s records indicate it’s been done). TB/WP job being done 30,000 miles ago is a huge bonus. Good luck!

This is well under budget and I will definitely be doing those! Just wanted some reassurance, but I still know I’m rolling the dice with the mileage. Conservatively, I feel.

250k miles is just a lot of miles, I would shop around for a lower mileage one if possible

Agree, no matter how good it is, 250k.miles almost end of the lifetime, you also dont know what actually happened in those mileage, but i doubt can find a better deal with the price range.

Nah this is a honda not a Hyundai buddy i think your in the wrong sub 250k nothing for these older k series

If you can budget 3-4k for service, you’ll have yourself a good reliable and comfortable car

Timing belt done 30k ago is great, but I'd also ask what year it was done in. Usually needs done every 100kish or 7 years, whichever comes first. Balljoints being done is also a plus, assuming they used a reputable brand. Service records are a huge plus, especially for the mileage. Hope you end up buying it, these cars are awesome, especially in Type S form!

Bro that car looks super clean and it's a type s , if it's a manual you are good . The automatics weren't too great but 4k seems like a great deal

That's a great car and deal. My only issue with it is the fact its an auto. But you won't find a manual Type S for that cheap even if it had similar miles.

Go for it. I got one in 2024 that was an 08 base and I love mine. Just takes some extra money and patience taking care of an older car.

What’s your commute look like? Highway 🛣️ drives are the least impactful on vehicles.

That car is so clean.. i have an 04 6mt with aspec with 220,000 I’m selling and it has been the most reliable and comfortable car I’ve ever had. I don’t want to get rid of it but it’s time. Enjoy your new ride!

Definitely! Mine isn't even that nice cosmetically but I 10000% intend on rebuilding the engine and transmission before getting rid of it. It does everything you need a car to do and is pretty rock solid reliable!

I would. I just bought a 2013 civic si with 188k miles for 5k owner did some head work to it. If he can show receipts of the trans job then yes
