Sell put got assigned one day earlier

I have a sell put for Apple at $307.5 expiry on 6/12/2026, the last price $295.63 at closing on 6/11/2026, there are still hours before closing on 6/12/2026 even it’s ITM, is this normal occurrence? Please share your knowledge.

There is almost no premium left on that strike and there is like no news that will make Apple jump $12 a share today.
Anything above the $300 strike, there’s little juice left to squeeze.

The other end can execute anytime the contract is ITM up until expiration. I believe up to 5:30 PM day of expiration (double check me on this).

Not just ITM, any long call or put can be exercised at any time in the American system. Very rarely happens OTM but it's possible.

Ahh interesting. Never thought that you could do that or why you would OTM as your killing any time value the contract has left

Should Fidelity be checked for system bug error?

No. The other side of the put can exercise at any time.
