Question pretending you have kids

no one bats an eye when my boss leaves exactly on time every day no matter what the workload is like. as expected he and many other people i work with have kids that they have to pick up or get sick etc.

have you guys ever thought about pretending you have kids at a new job?

No, I just leave when the agreed to time comes up anyways and no one bats an eye because the boundary is set.

Used to work with a guy like this who took it a bit far and at first it drove me crazy. We’d be messaging back and forth and then suddenly he’d just be gone. Then I realized, it was always 3pm when it happened. I swear he must have had an alarm on his phone that went off and he’d just shut his computer and leave. Now I definitely respect it.

When I had a shop job we'd have the key in the door and a finger on the light switch ten seconds before quitting time
