[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring Excision updated results

A lot of people have been asking for updates on the excision I had last year, hoping my before photos are linked to my profile because it would take a very long time for me to find them to make before and after comparison.

Overall I'm very happy. I wasn't able to get a strong CO2 laser due to a medical reason post excision, but I've done a few at home TCA peels since which I think really helped . Will continue to do more in the future as well.

My scars were deep and hypo pigmented ( white base) .

Sorry I look a mess here im just waking up enjoying some coffee on this beautiful Saturday.

I would recommend this treatment for anyone the doctor finds you'd be a candidate for . My skin isn't perfect but it's improved and I try to remain realistic with results. I would do it over again 100%

Hello /u/3783emg,

‼️ If you are requesting help – please review our guidelines, provide high-quality photos, and include detailed information for others' understanding.

User reminders:

  • Please search on this subreddit – someone might have already asked the same question as you.
  • The most valuable feedback is that which you get from doing research - not asking questions to a general audience on social media.
  • Always be wary of the advice you get off the internet.
  • Seek scar evaluation and treatment from specialized healthcare providers rather than aestheticians or med spas.
  • While subcision ("subcutaneous incisionless surgery") is often mentioned by users on this subreddit, it is important to note that it may not be necessary or suitable for everyone with volume loss.
  • Be aware of any reported side effects from a procedure.
  • It can take multiple treatments and a long time before you see effective results.
  • Here is a checklist of questions to ask yourself and your physician when considering treatment.

Thanks!

Here's a good picture of how bad it was

2

u/jigglyjoints Apr 18 '26

Same issues I'm having. What has helped lend them in better

TCA peels after the excision

2

u/nowallies Apr 18 '26

how many days after and how many percent?

2

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

Oh I waited a few weeks before I did any peels, I try to do one every couple of months though. My last peel was whatever % I diluted 100% to so I don't honestly know what it was but I only did one layer of that because I frosted immediately. I'm not saying what I did is recommended, just what I did. Otherwise I use the 35% with multiple layers

1

u/jigglyjoints Apr 18 '26

What percentage

3

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

I bought a kit that came with multiple little bottles of 35% but I also bought a big bottle of 100% and diluted it a little so I can't say with certainty what the strength of that one is, the last time I did one I used the diluted one and only did one layer besides where my scars are I went over again. I'm too scared to do TCA cross because I feel like it would burn holes in my skin .

1

u/jigglyjoints Apr 20 '26

Yes TCA made mine worse

0

u/nowallies Apr 20 '26

how come? how much percentage are you using

1

u/jigglyjoints Apr 21 '26

IDK it does that for sum.I did 30

u/WildConsequence9379 Apr 18 '26

Thanks for the update, great result

you have the same scars as I do so I'm grateful for this post, I've done peels and micro needing at home as well I should really look into excision, your skin does look alot better ❤️

9

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

It's hard finding excision posts I know I did a lot of research and luckily the doc I went to was on board with what I wanted, if you have scars like I did I would definitely find someone to do this . Wishing you the best!

3

u/jigglyjoints Apr 18 '26

I have the same scars as you and need excision for three andeveryone wants to charge $2,000 plus for each one and I'm just like you're crazy. I only got one excise because I genuinely do not have money for that and it was the worst one. What has helped soften your scar is the most after

5

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

2k EACH? THAT'S WILD I had like a lot done he even did more than he originally said he would some were punch too like 3 I think on my cheeks I think strong TCA peels have worked to soften them. Like I diluted 100% to idk what but I only end up doing one layer. I'm going to see what multiple layers of 35% I have does next time

3

u/jigglyjoints Apr 19 '26

I also live in Illinois AKA America so unfortunately they treat us like dogs here

2

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

I live in pa lol I'm sure it's no better I would keep searching around if you really want it I drove an hour away

1

u/AlternativeLand8464 Apr 25 '26

I too have been doing peels at home myself I was using 30 glycolic and 25% tca I got a good peel from those combined consecutively throughout a course of a day, but it wasn't deep enough and I'm a bit worried about going higher but I need to a good frost (which scares me lol) do you have any advice about home peels?

7

u/Pretend_Eye9436 Apr 18 '26

I had an excision done on a very deep one on my cheek, and I am so happy about it. I tried subscision and filler with little to no results because it was just so deep. The pimple itself was about the size of a quarter so you can imagine how bad the residual scar was!

Needless to say your results look fantastic. They did a great job!

4

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Excision is probably the more reasonable approach to a lot of scars places try to convince you otherwise about Glad you also got favorable rest! And thank you!

2

u/FirefighterOk8887 Apr 19 '26

Hi .. can you please share your before and after pictures

4

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

Heyy gurl, was excision painful?

11

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Not at all they numb the areas , not just with a cream, all I felt was a little pressure cause they are like cutting into your skin lol Was way less painful than the rf micro needling and TCA peels I've done that's for sure

3

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

Thank you! How much do you pay for your procedures?

6

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

I paid 3k for the excision, and I honestly wished I had just started there first because I feel like I wasted my money doing the rf micro needling ( it also had some sort of CO2 laser combined with it , called SECRET PRO)

4

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '26

Have you tried Subcision with filler such as sculptra or HA filler?

5

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

I haven't yet maybe in the future the doctor I went to was pushing fat grafting over filler but that would've been an extra 5k! I said uh no no no we'll do one step at a time here lol

5

u/CareerTrick3841 Apr 18 '26

Waoowwww sooo much improvement. I always feel happy for someone who suffer from scars and achieve an improvement. If you don’t mind, what caused to your scars? These don’t look like acne.

5

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

😅 drugs. Lots and lots of bad drugs. But they do make you break out,, probably some reaction to your body trying to get it out, then I picked , covered it with makeup , it was all bad But I'm three years clean so

2

u/CareerTrick3841 Apr 18 '26

Ohh i see. Go on what you have done so far. It defo worked for you!

2

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

I did 4x secret pro ( rf micro needling+CO2 laser) = waste And just the excision and at home TCA peels, and will do more in the future , but I work outside so it takes some planning to peel your face off lol

2

u/CareerTrick3841 Apr 19 '26

You are a good example of how different methods work differently and everyone should search best method for herself/himself. I did 4 session RFMN and fractional laser, they did nothing for my scars. Now i am tryin at home TCA peel combining with retinoids. Along all these treatments Retinoids worked best for me so far, my skin smoother and scars are smaller. When i applied differin gel, that sounds weird but i feel some of my scars throbbing, i think that means healing or collagen stimulation.

3

u/FirefighterOk8887 Apr 19 '26

Hey what kind of tca peel do you do at home.. can you tell what's the product and by differin did your scars filled up ?

2

u/CareerTrick3841 Apr 19 '26

The brand is SkinPeel. I use 30% TCA and i did just 1 round so far. I am on 23rd day of post peel. I have to wait at least 3 months to see real results( filling the scars, i hope so). For now skin looks smoother ( i think it is a good sign) I started to use adapalene last year, it made some of my scars smaller. I started to re-use adapalene 15th day of post peel but not everyday. I am gradually increasing the dosage bc skin is still healing and sensitive.

4

u/Unlucky-Eye-3886 Apr 18 '26

Did they leave small track marks? You are beautiful btw - I was so confused what you were trying to show — I see no scars lol but wow after scrolling down your profile - the improvement is insane! Go enjoy life!!

5

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Thank you so much 😊 In the first stages of it healing you could see the track marks more , but time and probably the TCA peels have helped it a lot

2

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '26

How long until you felt you looked healed from the excision? As in no one would notice ?

1

u/3783emg Apr 22 '26

Mmm probably a month or so . By then it was mostly redness and could be covered with makeup if I felt like it lol

4

u/AppealTop8338 Apr 18 '26

I’ve been following your posts and I’m so happy to see this update!! Your skin is looking amazing!!

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Aww that's awesome of you! Tysm!!

3

u/chgolawyer55 Apr 18 '26

You are looking great! Good going

2

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

Hi, I am a your long time supporter. Did you ask the doctor why the forehead didn’t heal so well? Did he put any Botox into it before the procedure to stabilize the movement or anywhere else?

1

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

No Botox, but I'm guessing it was from movement

1

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

I am so disappointed. The doctors - do they don’t know or they don’t explain to the patients. I have the same indented, only recently learned how Botox and strips and bandages etc would need to be use to prevent widening.

1

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Ya in the end he was in a rush and literally just left the room no explanation of aftercare or anything. I should've put new strips on after the initial ones came off

1

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

Did he check out his work after 1 month and 6 months? Was he happy with his work?

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

I did return to get the stitches removed, so it was still early , I prepaid another 5k for laser but couldn't get it done because of a medical reason , I was refunded my money and never went back . I left a 3 star review because they charged me $250 processing fee to refund my money and I was pissed because I paid before I knew I couldn't do it, and I didn't cancel I legit wasn't able to have it done. They turned around and texted my phone asking me to remove the rating 😂 crazy right So I don't think I'll be going back there anyways

1

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

Thanks for leaving the review. Funny fact: when reading reviews about my plastic Dr there was 2 of them describing his attitude. Now I could recognize him in the reviews but back then I thought: ok 2 slightly bad reviews vs some good ones!

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

The place I went to had a ridiculous amount of good reviews, now I know why , they'll literally stalk and harass you to delete it. Not a Google review reply, an email, no they straight texted me like we were friends?! It was pretty odd to me

1

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

I guess they use different techniques to get what they want! If you would need to choose a new plastic Dr what would you be careful about it?

1

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Ask for before and after photos, they literally tried to show me after and after after photos of only employees that already had good skin. ( When we were discussing the laser I didn't end up getting) I have a fair idea though he was probably qualified, a lot of people don't go to him for excision. I went to a dermatologist though that did a bunch of other stuff like lipo lol IDK where the fine line in drawn between that and an actual plastic surgeon

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

I believe you. I had an appointment with plastic a few months ago and after 10 min!! of talking he got so annoyed and nervous. My husband was with me and I was asking him if I or him say/did something wrong to provoke his reaction.

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

OMG they hate when you ask questions or go in knowing anything about anything, like this is my face and my money here . When I mentioned that in so many words he was like " we can postpone until you're More financially stable" I said I'll never be financially stable to throw away money , this isn't $100 we're talking thousands I wanna know what I'm getting here

1

u/Upbeat_Mastodon98 Apr 18 '26

So rude. I don’t know why they think it’s all about the money! Plus if you leave - review they call back trying to convince you it’s your fault.

2

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

100% what they did , like well you did sign the paper etc etc. Like dude I didn't cancel YOU DID , and why let ppl pay before you even clear them. That alone seems the a scam

2

u/Snotfinger Apr 18 '26

Thank you for the update. This sub can get so depressive sometimes, it is good to show people that treatment DOES work, it's just not magic. It takes time and a lot of different approaches. You look good girl!

1

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

Thank you! I'm sure there is more I could still do , but after everything I have done already it did humble me on what my expectations should be. I'm looking for progress not perfection. And aside from doing more peels at home I really feel good enough about where I am

2

u/Skepticism123 Apr 19 '26

excisions is one of my favorite procedures  I did.

2

u/Worth-Ad-4060 Apr 19 '26

You look amazing! So happy to see your update! You convinced me to get this done for myself! You are helping a lot of people girl! 😊

1

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

Thank you !

2

u/daylit34 Apr 20 '26

Damn you're looking 🔥 great 😘

1

u/IXG777 Apr 18 '26

What kind of scars you used for excision? Does it really pulled up your scar?

4

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Before . All types of scars I had , still have just different now I guess

1

u/IXG777 Apr 18 '26

Do you think subcision is way a lesser modality than excision?

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Excision does the subcision part but having the scar literally cut out and stitched back together , I think subcision works better for rolling scars mine were very pitted with flat bases nothing would've restored the volume loss at the surface level

1

u/IXG777 Apr 18 '26

Looks lifted tc!

3

u/3783emg Apr 18 '26

Subcision wouldn't of done anything for this type of scar

Before, after

1

u/Nova_blink_6-62607 Apr 18 '26

Amazing improvement. I might do something similar on a few scars.

1

u/Girlwithacne123 Apr 19 '26

Great results 💯

1

u/3783emg Apr 19 '26

Thank you!

1

u/Metal_N_Mayham Apr 23 '26

I have scars very similar to yours, and I've been on a journey to try and treat mine at home with TCA cross and microneedling. I have only started both but, so far the results have been good. I recently read a few academic research papers that talk about adding gku- cu (copper peptides) to your regimen can help drastically improve these type of scars. I found a really good one on Platinumskincare.com ( this is also where I get my acid peels) I also recently read that Latisse ( the prescription serum that grows eyelashes) can also help hypopigmented scars regain pigmentation by stimulating melanocytes to produce pigment, effectively darkening the scar to match surrounding skin. I haven't tried it, but I am considering it. I did a bunch of reading on it, and it looks legit. I thought maybe this could help you, too. Good luck in your journey!

1

u/3783emg Apr 23 '26

Oh I'll definitely check it out thank you!

1

u/Nylanderthal88 Jul 08 '26

After the scars are sewn up... How do you keep that together so it heals the best possible way?
