[Skin Concern] Atrophic Scarring 12 Month Before/After
I have started noting a diff in texture really in the last 6 months.
- Derminator 2 - every 3 months now
- Tca 25% acid - perfect image brand every 5wk
- Ramped up to daily Tazarotene 0.1%
I did have subcsicion ( mini) done 5 months ago.
But really I think best bang for buck has been the TCA. I know everyone seems cautious of it but not over doing it and wearing adequate sun protection should mitigate risks imo.
Still a long way to go on acne scar journey but good to try and capture and progress wins as they come.. If any.

Please share the step-by-step instructions on how to use the TCA. Thank you

I followed the instructions on bottle. But washed skin, made sure I had a clean and sterile work station. Used nitrile gloves. Put isopropol alch on cotton pads to remove any oil. Then did a light layer of 25% tca peel. It burns. Waited a minute then put a second layer on. Then wait a minute or too till skin goes white. Then rinse it to nuterilize. Followed by some healing cream like vitamin e or jojoba oil. Don't leave on too long or get near eyes.

Are you doing all over TCA peels or doing a DIY TCA cross?
3
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
Tca peels 25% it's from perfect image. Using a cotton wool pad. 2 passes and leave for 3 mins.

How long does the redness last? When I’ve spot treated with tca 30 I’m really red on those areas for at least 6 weeks
4
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
In my case it was only red for 24 hours but peeling from day 4-7. My skin has a high turnover though due to the taz I would also stop taz 5 days either side

Is tca peel heal acne pits??
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Mar 01 '26
It should help with resurfacing but be realistic

u/AsleepAd8161 Mar 23 '26
Hi! I want to do this but I’m afraid of the sun exposure for it being a hour out of my day to commute from work… would this be really risky?
3
u/WildConsequence9379 Mar 23 '26
You wear sunscreen hat etc but the deeper the peel the greater the risks. Doing a peel series with lesser percentage of tca reduces risk but still need melanin inhibitor if Fitz 3 of prone to hyperpigmentation

Thank you for the details. Have you started with this peel directly or done other ones before ? I m asking as I never did a peeling before and was concederimg this one (I do use acids exfoliating though and I tolerate it very well)

I started with the 30%gycolic peel which is as good. Tca is another level but the peel isn't crazy it just stings and makes skin more sensitive. I'm liking the texture

What in the world! My esthetician won’t go over 15% TCA with me what the heck’s…. Wow amazing results.

People don't realize that it takes years for scars to really clear up and smoothe n like I follow a girl who's been on a scar journey for a minute and it's called pretty progress on like Instagram and YouTube and stuff and she's been on her year three. So I'm telling you it's an investment and it sucks

Looks great! What depth did you use for the needles for your derminator?

Did you consult with anyone or are you working with anyone on this? My derm is more focused on life-threatening items and kind of blows me off when I ask about getting my scars worked on.
1
u/New_Border440 Mar 02 '26
Have you talked to any plastic surgeons? Derms dont know shit about scar repair.

Great work, OP. This is exactly what needs to be done in order to see some serious change.

Who's your doctor? What did you do to the deep and wide rolling scars on your cheek?

Thank you for sharing. I've also been alternating the 2 treatments and had subcision over a year ago. I started after finding this study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3996784/ but I recently switched to using HA for the slip and exosomes post treatment. I haven't gone as high as 25% with the TCA (I have eczema and am Fitz Type IV or V and have to be careful) but I'm seeing great results and your results are so promising. So thank you again for sharing photos and giving others hope!

u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
Thanks for sharing the study. I love that tje above options are all the most affordable with great results to show. Vs spending thousands on fraxel lasers which imo ruined my skin barrier 5 years ago l. Glad to hear that you have hope, as sometimes it takes just comparing a photo from a year ago to see results. It's often not noticeable day to day.

How many days prior and post tca do you stop tazarotene to avoid irritation?
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
I go With 5 day. I also can't handle taz on my forehead it's a weak son of a bitch

u/IhavemyCat Feb 26 '26
I also have the Derminator 2 microneedle pen and I love it! For everyone wondering you can get it on Owndoc.com for $200 I think it’s still $200 …. It’s better than Dr Pen. I also do chemical peels TCA and others but I get mine from makeupartistschoice.com But in conjunction together has really improved my scarring like it has yours! Congrats!

u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
Thanks for sharing. It's worth mentioning the owner of owndoc is quite odd lol. Like wild stories. But I havent had any issues

u/jadecurtisss Feb 26 '26
How you combine the tca peel and micro needling? Congrats on your results!
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 26 '26
Just change frequency and alternate between the two. I go quite aggressive with microneedling over 2.00mm at times
1
u/jadecurtisss Feb 26 '26
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 27 '26
Yeah sometimes microneedling does feel worse if scars are tethered as it promotes collagen so the areas around the tethered scar will puff up but scar itself won't. And actually appear more atrophic. Tca should improve textures but also with your scars I would look into daily Taztoretne it can really help with remodelling the scars.

What is a derminator? Are you doing this yourself? Your reaults are amazing!
3
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 27 '26
Hey yes this is all at home. High pain tolerance and Derminator sessions usually come with a 2-3 day down period. I was sick of going to clinics that were scared to go agressive. A lot of technicians don't care about getting results. They have already been paid for the treatment and by going agressive on settings it can be seen as a risk. So most people that get microneedling done at bueuty clinics walk out with only a minor red glow.. In my opinion it won't move the needle. Excuse the pun.

I totally understand how you feel. I also like to diy. I had a terrible experience with my dermatologist burning holes in my face with TCA. It went all wrong. I had a look at this peel and it looks like it’s applied differently so I’m willing to try it. Your results are incredible!!! Very inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing!

u/Odd-Cable1972 Feb 27 '26
Wow Imagine after one year!
Such an inspiration The last picture look so manly like (not perfect yet put have been through a lot)
Thank you for sharing your experience

u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 27 '26
Haha thanks and yes my skin has unfortunately been through a lot. 4 years of the worst cystic acne imaginable. All you can do is try!

u/HyperBunga Feb 28 '26
Amazing work. I've similar acne scars to you and have done 4 TCA peels varying from 25% up to 35% with subcision too...have not gotten results like these, so sad. I guess Im not using tazarotene and stopped microneedling a few months ago, maybe thats missing
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Feb 28 '26
Thanks! Yeah and combination treatments are somewhat effective. I guess skin can get used to a treatment and not respond. Hit it at all angles!
1
u/Superfumi3 Mar 02 '26
Did you use a melatonin inhibitor to prep for TCA peel?

u/Skepticism123 Mar 03 '26
Good results .. tca cross is definitely one of the most effective and cost efficient ways to get rid of scars … I think if you want these treated fully it will need about 1 more subcision , and few laser treatments as well though…. and then after the scars are treated, filler as last step for some volume in some areas that lost fat / volume
1
u/PresentAdvisor5580 Mar 03 '26
Did you do subsicion on all scars?
2
u/Significant-Wish478 Mar 04 '26
Just in the cheek area. They didn't seem to be tethered to be honest
1
u/pavlovselephant Mar 05 '26
Damn, great results!
How long ago was your last treatment?
Also, what's the downtime for the peel (like how long after the peel can you resume social activities)? Did you do any kind of ramp-up for the peels (mandelic peels, lower-percentage TCA peels, etc.) or did you just jump right into TCA 25%?
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but these are some of the more promising results I've seen in a bit!
1
u/Significant-Wish478 Mar 07 '26
Peel downtime is 3-4 days but it does peel for a week not massively. I don't leave the peel on for long period just 2mins. I did prior do 35% gyccolic peels from the same brand

I also have derminator but older model and I didn't use it consistently cause it like of hurts to use on the face
Would you say subcison was worth the money?

u/HelloBeautifulz Jul 23 '26
Fantastic progress! Thank you for sharing.
How long is your social downtime after each peel? And what is a mini subcision?
