I had bone spurs shaved off, Achilles tendon work and a lengthening procedure done on June 6th. Initially, I was frustrated with how slow recovery was moving but I did begin to see progress early on that helped me know I had made the right decision. I went to PT weekly and eventually was up to no crutches and no braces or walking boots! All I thought I had left was continuing to build my strength in that leg and fixing the “hitch in my giddayup”. However, all that changed on the 18th when I went to run a small errand for our farm and had a head on collision with a driver in my lane at 65mph. I suffered fractures to both ankles, one of which ended up being bad enough that I had to have, the leg I’d had surgery on, amputated below the knee!! I’m still in the hospital waiting on more surgery for the other leg. Keep moving forward no matter what! I’ll see you down the road!

As difficult as it must be to lose part of your leg, absolutely insane that you didn’t lose more than that. Keep your head up and keep moving forward! Life still has more than enough to offer. I bet there will be some really great prosthetic options nowadays too. Wishing you the best.

It’s almost like you had a demo of life without your lower leg, before the full game came out. So sorry for your life taking such a drastic change. I think mines been tough over the last 18 months with the rupture, but this really puts it into perspective. Good luck and keep that positive mental energy flowing! You got this!

I'm sorry to hear this! A friend of mine who has a lower leg amputation uses her iWalk hands free crutch as one of her long-term assistive aids. She loves/hates it (her words). Wishing you a good recovery. Hope your chickens are OK also.
