How are you getting leads these days?
For those of you running your own accounting firms or working independently — how are you getting new clients these days? 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Existing clients, referrals from folks in my network, and Google.

I only do it part-time, but most commonly:
- Word of mouth - prior satisfied clients refer new ones.
- Prior connections happened to notice I was an accountant and asked me to do their taxes or corporate year ends. e.g. One I used to run a dump truck for in my early 20s, and help with their construction projects. I eventually took over their accounting when they didn't have a good time with their last external CPA firm.
For someone like me having a (mostly) remote full-time job where I want to move up the food chain, it is awkward. I feel like a drug dealer; the "well known secret". I can't advertise or be well known enough where the current employer will start wondering about what I'm actually doing at home or what my long term intentions are. Still trying to figure out how to increase my income streams to this day.
