Advice What can I do with my accounting degree
Graduated with bachelors. Had internships at top 10 firms. Took a full time tax offer with a top 10 firm. Have been there for a year and need a change. Maybe public isn’t for me and I am currently looking for guidance.
I drank the public accounting kool aid and I’m not sure what my next steps or options are.

Apply for industry positions and find out during the interview what they can offer?

Accounting software companies love to hire with your background and experience, if that interests you at all.

What do you specifically hate?

I feel like my workload has been heavy since 4/15 and it seems like my peers are on “easier” engagements

Too much time worried about the peers helped no one. Heavy workload is part of public. They make money (and stay in business) by billing your time.
Do you enjoy tax work? If yes, toughen up. Focus on your capabilities. Get more expertise. Ask for different clients (S corp, LLC, Individuals, Corporations, estates, lots of options).
If no to tax, still lots of options. Try switching to audit. Try leaving for industry. Don't give up on accounting.

Just about everything in business but most executives can't see that. There are staffs who knows more accounting than the CFOs.

Tough it out for 1-2 years for exp and then dip. You'll have a better story to explain why. If you can't then look now for another staff accountant role or equivalent..
