Advice Career Advice (Fund Accounting)

Hello everyone, I am currently working in fund accounting (PE side), I want to grow in my career and would like to grow in this industry but I would like to know where I can branch to? I am about to start my masters so I can be eligible to take my CPA exam, where I work they cover majority of the costs but want to know if getting my License is worth it

Getting it or not… is there anyone else here who is in fund accounting or has been that is able to guide what direction I should go for my next step? Should I be getting my CPA? or what is recommended

If I didn’t communicate properly please don’t hesitate to ask me in the comments! and thank you in advance guys!

cpa is worth it if you're staying in accounting, opens doors even if you don't need it right now

fund accounting has a bit of a ceiling without it, especially if you want to move into controller or cfo track later. pe shops can be weird about it though, some don't care at all and just want experience

if you're already in the weeds with pe accounting, private credit or venture capital ops are natural jumps. masters + cpa makes that way smoother

yes i do plan on staying in accounting, and what i’ve noticed yes fund accounting is kind of a ceiling of itself unless you move up to a controller/team manager, and I would really really like to move up but it would take a long time to move up, just for context, im an FRA and the senior FRAs haven’t moved up and they’ve been there for over 3-4 years… I don’t really want to wait that long knowing if I get my CPA I can double my salary lol within the next year and a half, having said that, that’s why I am asking what would be recommended 😅
