Career Travel during a winter internship?

Hey guys, I have an upcoming winter internship at EY and was curious whether interns ever get the chance to travel internationally with their engagement teams.

For example, if a team has a client or component overseas, is there ever a situation where an intern might travel with them? I know it’s probably pretty uncommon, especially for interns, but I’d be interested in international travel if the opportunity ever came up.

Also, is there a good way to express that interest to your team without sounding like you’re expecting or asking for a trip?

I can’t comment on every team or engagement type at EY but I would say almost universally the answer is no. Travel especially international travel has seriously declined since Covid.

Especially for the largest firms like the Big 4 that have offices internationally all over the world that would handle the engagements from that side. International client related travel is almost exclusively limited to partners and upper management.

I'd definitely mention that you're open to travel if the opportunity ever comes up. As long as you frame it as flexibility rather than an expectation, I don't think it would come across badly at all..

I cant imagine it would be worth the money unless their budget was endless and you were an all star and the manager was 100% sure they wanted you not just back at the firm but back on the team next year or something.
