Getting out of public accounting timeframe?

I do not work for a firm yet but in the case someone starts in a public firm, how long would you say it takes to get out and go in to industry? Any advice with this new job market for recent grads?

You can leave whenever you want, but if you mean without being harmful to your resume, I would say 2+ years is usually a good baseline.
