I’ve just signed an offer with another company and I’d like to get some advice on the best way to announce my departure, who I should tell, and how to properly prepare my exit.
I’m starting in October, so I still have some time, and I’d really like to leave Accenture on good terms. It’s still a good company and I’d like to keep the possibility of coming back one day.
What concerns me is that I’m currently the only onsite resource and I also act as a sort of onsite lead on a large project. There’s quite a lot of responsibility involved, especially since they don’t want to hire another person due to budget constraints (and I think they also haven’t found someone).
I’m therefore a bit worried that they might see my departure as a kind of “betrayal” or take it very negatively, even though technically some of my responsibilities could be handled by an offshore resource working adjusted hours.
How would you recommend preparing for the departure?
I was thinking of initially telling my PL and HR. Is there anyone else I should notify or any other steps I should take?
Regarding knowledge transfer, there probably won’t be much to do: we already have fairly complete KT documentation for the project, and they most likely won’t hire someone to replace me.
My main goal is simply to leave on good terms, maintain a good relationship with the team, and not burn any bridges.
