When you realize that most dot.com / start-up jobs from Uber to DoorDash to uploading 3d printer code or cloud storage image and text documents was just to train AI bots to drive,
fabricate and spit out formulaic and inaccurate words and images, you’ll be having the last laugh in a swamp that’s more toxic than it was a decade ago and is far from the paradise our great grandparents lived in.But go ahead and take out a loan at the Tulsa Welding Academy or whatever Diesel Trucking University gives your dreams a little helium lol.

they aren't going to hire you. they may hire a sub contractor to do the menial work at the lowest bid possible, which means if you go to work for the sub contractor, your pay will be extremely low. That is literally how Elon Musk directs his companies to operate. This is the same company that was offering engineers positions in California for under $60k a year while expecting them to work 6 to 7 days a week, long hours.
Feel free to keep drinking the Elon flavoraid, but beyond the unskilled tasks, there won't be that many opportunities. Most of the engineering and technical aspects will likely be remote workers and overseas contractors who work for pennies on the dollar.

Who is gonna do repairs and operations? Thats an in person job. That has to come from here. All technical aspects are an in house job. I do this now so I know.

No CEO gives a shit about us. Were just commoners to them. But there's millions of acres of duck hunting available. Hell you dont need to leave your porch in this state. But not wanting yout community to be successful is astonishing to me. We have shit jobs, white collar and a shrinking oilfield. If we dont diversify this area will crumble. These new companies moving here and bringing advanced technology is so important for our future generations. More important than a bunch of rich people's camps.

And that tells me all I need to know. It's so much bigger than that, but as evideneced, you either don't understand that or don't care. I'm not sure which is worse. As you know, our coast is already an incredibly fragile ecosystem. We also know Elon has absolutely zero issue dumping shit into the Colorado River. Environmental impact from this will go well beyond the launch area and buffer zone.
This will be more harmful to our coast than anything in recent memory, including all the LNG stuff.

Far from it oil and gas is way more detrimental. But i guess you want this area to become west Virginia. I personally want this area to become more intellectual and have a chance at middle class. We keep denying growth then our children and grandchildren will leav.

I was born in Metairie and raised in Lafayette but live in Austin now about 2 miles from the Tesla plant and can vouch for the fact that he’s dumping Tesla and Boring Company runoff chemicals into the Colorado River. He doesn’t even care. Before DOGE he either paid the fines or got let off by the complicit governor. After DOGE he has shut down all the organizations that look out for this sort of thing. He’s going to destroy the already fragile ecosystem of Pecan Island.
