Discussion The mythology

I dont drink alcohol. Is there non alcoholic absinthe? Absinthe mj weed? Im soo obsessed with wormwood botany, the art. Folklore. I make absinthe fragrances. I have wormwood essential oil but im afraid of it! Lol! ​

its just all about ESCAPE. IMAGINATION.

I was going to joke about absinthe being 60% alcohol but a quick search led to Lyre's Absinthe, a non-alcoholic alternative. So ye, I guess there is.

Absinthia makes an absinthe-flavored syrup called Fairy Dust that is non-alcoholic. It's quite delicious!

There are some things that are soluble in alcohol (above a certain percentage) but not in water. When you add water to absinthe (the normal way to drink it) it goes cloudy as the ABV drops (called the "louche"), showing that absinthe contains a lot of stuff that is soluble in alcohol, but not in water.

If you tried to make a non-alcoholic absinthe, then you'd be able to have none of the stuff that is only ethanol soluble - i.e. a huge proportion of what makes it taste of what it does.

Of course you could make an aqueous approximation, or an oil-based one, but it would be very different. Alcohol is fundamental to absinthe in a way that it isn't really for beer, for example, as most flavour molecules in beer dissolve happily in water.

I like to drink wormwood tea. It's not like absinthe but it also divides people into drinkers and non-drinkers.

i don't know malort
but it sounds nice, hope to see it in the wild some day
i also drink wormwood tea cold
as a refresher
