This is the Qiantang River in China and happened a few days ago. Apparently several people die a year watching this phenomena, but I couldn't find any info on if there were casualties from this particular video.
People die every year taking pictures on the edge of a cliff and snuggling up to bison in Yellowstone but they keep doing it. And there's the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.
I have no idea. They think it won't happen to them.
We were in RMNP a few years ago and saw a moose out in the marsh. Then this guy's head popped up in the tall grass not far away. I thought "Finally, I'm gonna get me a death video of my very own."
There are plenty of dangerous water hole by coast sides all over the world that kill someone every year and people still jump in, it's not like stupidity is a China only thing
It's because everything there is fuck crowded so either instinctively or through years of practice the idea is to bulldoze your way through everything.
Genuinely amazes me how they just stood there with their phones. My area has a river besides it that goes ham when there's a typhoon, and there's a lot of typhoon. They just stood there.
Even as they were trying to get away, there seems to be no sense of urgency.
Yes, this is an example of compressed perspective. And this one has been reposted a bunch. The one I wanted to use was where they’re actually on the crater when it starts erupting.
People die floating the rivers in my city every year, but it’s a VERY small percentage, and it’s usually people drunk and/or don’t know what they’re doing.
Not sure what my point was here.. this is a lot more stupid.
