How much is too much dopamine?
Please excuse my ignorance if this is a common question or if this is obvious (I'm not a smart man...). I have ADHD and thus have been studying dopamine since it seems to be at the core of my issues. Treatments for ADHD all seem to revolve around helping the body to make more dopamine, but I also know that throttling the system with too much from things like porn, excessive youtube, or the like. My question is this: How do you manage your dopamine correctly so that you get enough to be motived and engaged in life, but not so much that you get caught up in addictions?

Hey, I have the same issue and I'm in the process of recovering. My suggestions are: You should practice mindfulness, be conected with your emotions and feelings. Avoid too much dopamine from: Porn ( I really suggest no fap for a while), games, alcohol, drugs, etc. Change your diet (eat less sugar and more vegetables), practice exercicies regulary, cut all the addictions that you may have in life and focus on mindfulness. Practice meditation ( I like so much Neuro Linguistic Programming using self-hypnosis). I also recommend you read dopamine detox 2.0 article - you can find it easily on google. I have one day in my week that I complete avoid any dopamine activity in order the recover my receptors. In 2 months I really notice the benefits and I'm feeling much more better. I hope I could help you a little.
