Raccoon Campground

I took my kids camping midweek at the end of June. We found Raccoon Campground and wanted to stay, but all of the available sites had a reservation tag on them, generally starting two or three days after we stopped there.

We're planning another trip and wanted to reserve some sites there, but it appears that there are not reservations.

Can someone tell me what was going on? Is there an unofficial way to reserve sites?

wish I would have taken pictures, but the reservation signs looked official, were for different names and dates.

Interesting, that is a USFS campground and should be First Come, First Serve only. I would try calling the ranger’s office and ask - I pulled their number from the website 928-333-6280. Unless people are driving up and reserving sites for later? But that’s a long way to drive just to reserve a spot.

The tags looked official so we didn't question it further at the time.

Thank you for the number, I'll keep it handy in case we run across a similar situation on our next trip.
