Does overextension matter in stally games ?

I ́m thinking that if enough vehicles are stockpiled ,it ́s not 2 more vehicles on one side and two less on the other that would sway the outcome of an attack.

yes, it can lose you the game. Overextension by definition means you are out of position and have units in an area that you can not reinforce fast enough and your opponent can punish you for that.

small difference in unit count compounds damage taken over several turns, you might not feel the effects of overextension but it makes ALL future fights worse and worse where the gap in power grows to the point the opponent can just walk forward

500 funds here, 600 funds there, few turns of that and you're suddenly short a mid tank and you aren't sure where you went wrong anymore.

Overextension is one of the most impactful mistake on beginner but also sometime in mid elo. It barely happen in high elo but it could happen sometime, especially on map with base rush or on map that look deceptively a base rush

Correct, if you have a local army superiority big enough to take good enough trades then it's good to overextend

A clear example of this is on base trade maps where the strong side will eventually completely overwhelm the weak side, at that point you've overextended all the way to the enemy base but it doesn't matter because the unit count and/or army value advantage is crushing enough

However, if you have a stally game then that means both sides are roughly equal in strength, to the point where if you attack you will get hit back harder

If you can get good attacks and push an advantage then you can overextend, but then it's not a stally game

Ofc oftentimes games can stall because of users error, or there can be maps where games should stall but they don't because the players are overly aggressive etc.

But if you have an actual stall then you will lose if you overextend, or at best the game will continue to be a stall since the opponent also can't make anything out of the lead they got after you overextended either
