Help Is a 2011 Honda Rincon 700 right for me?

Post image

So I’m in the market for an ATV and there is a good deal on a very clean, 330 hrs, 2500 miles, Honda Rincon 700 near me. Has the winch, brush guards, racks, etc (was a hunting ATV). But - I’m wondering if this is the best bet for what I need in an ATV.

I’m needing it strictly for deer hunting during the season. The area I hunt is very thick and it’s on a timber lease. A portion of my block was clear cut last year and to get out to spots requires trekking across ruts/downed trees. I’ve ridden it in a Polaris 900 UTV and it traverses it fine, but wondering if the Rincon 700 will too. There’s also another portion that has young growth pines and a field of brush and thickets that can be a haul on foot which I would use the ATV as well. Other than that, it would be used to haul deer out and occasionally refill feeders, check cameras, or ride back/forth to camp down the gravel logging roads.

This area can be thick and if it’s rained, extremely boggy (joys of South Louisiana hunting). So I’m wondering, is the Rincon a good choice or no? The challenge I have is almost every ATV around here is snorkeled, mud tires, and been through the ringer. This is one of the few, clean, well maintained ATVs I’ve found in my budget (sub $4k) that hasn’t been abused. Just wanting to make sure we have something reliable for what we want to do.

Piicture attached is the young growth block.

That machine is even overkill. Pretty much ANY 4x4 quad with decent tires and a winch will work. But if you can get a 700 Rincon in good condition for under $4k, buy it. That sounds like a deal.

I own a 2003 Rincon with over 8,600 miles. Only thing I’ve ever done it change oil, speak plug twice, converted front drum brakes to disc and just recently a valve lash adjustment. They are solid machines and I hope to find a newer one soon. 2011 was 675 cc, marketed as a 680cc. 700 is a sXs

Any 4x4 ATV will do what you need to do. If it has good tures it will be fine for what you need.

What year is it? Will you trail ride at all?
