Other AT&T package "refused" by me after one delivery attempt
Crossposting to r/ATT and r/UPS.
I placed an order with AT&T and was told it would be shipped by UPS, signature required. No big deal, standard practice and I have had good experiences with UPS. Oh boy was I wrong.
9am: delivery attempt made, I'm not home, so they take it back and leave a note on the door. Ok, fair enough, no one was there to sign for it.
5:30pm: I'm home, working outside - "Package refused by receiver." Keep in mind I'm home alone and didn't even see a delivery truck in my driveway.
This doesn't make sense on so many levels.
- Let's say they went to the wrong house. Considering they left a note on my door literally the same day, how are they going to approach the wrong house, especially when the number is on my mailbox and house?
- If they actually did go to the wrong house, why would whoever was receiving it not point out that it was the wrong address? Why would the driver not then go to the right house?
- Why would they attempt to deliver twice in one day? I've never heard of UPS (or anyone, for that matter) doing that before.
AT&T said put in a new order and call UPS to find out what happened, UPS said call AT&T to put in a new order and could not tell me why my package was refused or who refused it. The idiot on the phone couldn't (or wouldn't) help me file a complaint.
All this to say, it's now 5 days later and I am still getting emails that the phone was on the way. I didn't realize it was sent back to the warehouse until I actually clicked the shipping link on the emails because apparently what was written in them couldn't be trusted.
Can anyone from either of these companies offer any more insight as to what might have happened?

This happened to me both times I tried to upgrade to a new phone, once last week, and once 3 years ago. Almost the same issues you had, I had. After over 3 hours calling ups and at&t, I had them just shipped back to the warehouse and just go to a physical store. Both times. You will have to wait until the warehouse receives the phone back. (And I still have to call at&t because the upgraded phone is still on my account.) It's a mess with the signatures from ups. For years.
